Eintracht Frankfurt and Schalke 04 square off in Bundesliga soccer action from the Commerzbank Arena on Wednesday afternoon.
Eintracht Frankfurt come into this match sitting in 10th place with a record of 11 wins, 5 draws and 15 losses, sitting on 38 points following a 4-1 win over Hertha Berlin in their last match. In the win over Hertha, Frankfurt fell behind in the 24th minute, but got a break just before halftime when Hertha were reduced to ten men following a red card. Bas Dost tied the game at one six minutes after the half for Eintracht, and just 11 minutes later Andre Silva gave Frankfurt the lead. Obite Evan N’Dicka pushed the lead to 3-1 just six minutes later and Silva completed his brace in the 86th minute pushing the lead to 4-1 and securing all three points for Frankfurt. Silva leads Frankfurt in scoring with 10 goals while Martin Hinteregger has 8 goals and Filip Kostic has 4 goals and a team-high 10 assists.
Schalke 04 on the other hand, come into this match just one spot above in 9th with 39 points and a record of 9 wins, 12 draws and 10 losses despite having their winless run extended to 13 games with a second straight 1-1 draw, this time with Bayer Leverkusen. In the draw with Bayer, Schalke took the lead in the 51st minute from the penalty spot when Daniel Caligiuri slotted it home to give the hosts the lead. Schalke wouldn’t be able to hold on though, as Juan Miranda put the ball into his own net to give Leverkusen a lifeline. Neither side would find a late go-ahead goal though, so the points were shared. Suat Serdar continues to miss time with a muscle injury but still leads Schalke in scoring with 7 goals while Amine Harit has 6 goals and a team-high 4 assists this season.
Schalke opened some eyes, salvaging a draw with Leverkusen, but that doesn’t end their winless drought which now sits at 13 games and as up and down as Frankfurt has been, they’ve won three of their last four games and it’s hard for me to get behind Schalke or even make a case for them when they’ve still scored two or more goals just once since the beginning of December. I’ll side with Eintracht Frankfurt to pick up the win here and to get value out of the bet I’ll combine the Frankfurt win with under 3.5 goals for decent plus money.
