Tottenham is welcoming Brighton & Hove Albion in round 19 of the English Premier League on the Boxing Day.

Tottenham is playing better than they did at the beginning of the season, but they are still not consistent. Tottenham has 3 wins and 3 loses in their last 6 games and they scored 7 goals during that stretch while conceding 9 goals. In their last EPL match against Chelsea at home, Tottenham didn’t have a good game with only 44% of ball possession, 1 shot on goal, 3 corner kicks, and only 78% of the correct passes. Tottenham didn’t play good soccer, on both ends and they lost 0-2. With 26 points, Tottenham is in 7th place in the standings. Since Mourinho was hired Tottenham has improved in every aspect, but it will take a little bit more time for players to adjust to the new coach’s ideas and game plan. In the Champions League, Tottenham has qualified to the Top 16 and will be playing against Leipzig who is currently the top team in Bundesliga. Tottenham’s next three games in the EPL are on the easier side and I think this is the perfect time for Tottenham to gain some consistency and to win a good amount of points. The competition in the EPL is pretty tight this season, and Tottenham certainly has enough quality to end up in the top 4. Harry Kane is Tottenham’s captain and their top goal scorer with 9 goals, while Alli and Son added 5 goals each. Lloris, Lamela, and Davies are injured, while Son is suspended due to a red card from a game versus Chelsea. Tottenham is playing solid soccer when playing at home, and I see them bouncing back from an unfortunate loss against Chelsea.

Brighton has been solid so far in the season and is in 13th place in the EPL standings. Even though this spot seems to be safe outside the relegation zone, Brighton’s 20 points are just 5 points away from the said relegation zone. Brighton is scoring just over a goal per game, but their defense hasn’t been that good and they conceded 26 goals in 18 games. In their last 7 games, Brighton has won only 1 match and that was against disastrous Arsenal 3 weeks ago. In their latest EPL match versus Sheffield United at home, Brighton was the better team with 69% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, and 82% of the correct passes. Despite their good game, Brighton couldn’t handle Sheffield who is playing in great form and they lost 0-1. Maupay has been the best player for Brighton so far and has scored 7 goals so far. Izquierdo and March are injured and will not be in the lineup for this match. Brighton is an average EPL team who were never expected to be high up in the standings and they certainly don’t expect to get qualified for one of the European competitions, instead, the best they can do is to fight to stay in the EPL every season, and do their best in the FA Cup where they have some chances to get as far as possible.

Tottenham hasn’t lost any of their last 4 home games versus Brighton. Tottenham is the better team, and their key players are entering the good form, and more importantly, Tottenham’s defense is playing better. I see Tottenham getting a nice win here and to bounce back after their home loss last weekend.
