Over 2.5 (-138), Under 2.5 (+110)
Everton is welcoming Tottenham to Goodison Park in a derby match of round 11 of the English Premier League.
Everton is in a huge slump right now and has won only 1 of their last 6 EPL matches. With only 10 points from 10 games, Everton is in 16th place in the standings with 10 scored goals and massive 16 conceded goals. Calvert-Lewin is Everton’s top goalscorer with 3 goals, followed by Bernard and Richarlison with 2 goals. Gbamin is the only injured player for Everton and will not be in the lineup. In their last game in the EPL against Brighton, Everton had 45% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 81% of correct passes. Everton was leading 1-2 until 80th minute but then conceded a penalty and scored an own goal in 94th minute and Everton has lost this match 3-2. Everton has a fantastic team with some great players like Kean, Richarlison, Sigurdsson, Iwobi, Digne, and Mina, but their coach Marco Silva can't seem to get them in a good form. Everton's biggest problem is on the defensive end where they can't keep the ball out of the net even against the weaker EPL teams and they haven't conceded a goal in only 3 games so far. I think that Everton is too good of a team to be in this slump for much longer and it's only a matter of time before they start playing more consistent soccer and winning more.
Tottenham can't buy a win in the EPL recently and is playing bad soccer as of late. With only 1 win in their last 5 games in the EPL, Tottenham has sunk to 11th place and has only 12 points. The defense has been the biggest problem for Tottenham this season and has conceded 15 goals in 10 matches. In the Champions League Tottenham is doing well only because Crvena Zvezda and Olympiacos don't have enough quality to compete with Bayern and Tottenham. In their last EPL match against Liverpool, Tottenham was forced to defend as many teams are against Liverpool and has had only 32% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, and low 67% of correct passes. Tottenham did have a lead by a goal in the first minute of the match but Liverpool's attacks were too hard and they managed to turn things around. Tottenham has lost this match 2-1. Tottenham has scored a solid amount of goals this season and Harry Kane is their top goalscorer with 6 goals. Sessegnon and Lloris who is their star goalkeeper are injured and will not be in the lineup. Tottenham is last year's Champions League finalist and they ended up in the 4th place in the standings but this season nothing seems to be going their way. Sloppy defense, slow midfield, and Harry Kane is their only striker that is in good form which is just not enough for a league strong and competitive as the EPL. One can't help but wonder if it's maybe time for a coaching change because I think that Pochettino gave everything he had to this club and team.
It's hard to choose a winner between two teams that are playing bad soccer like Everton and Tottenham and for that reason, I will pick something on goals.
