Manchester City is hosting Southampton at Etihad Stadium in part of round 11 of the English Premier League.
Manchester City is one of the top teams in England and Europe who scored 32 goals in the first 10 game in the EPL which is an average just over 3 goals per game. City is in second place in the EPL standings with 22 points, 6 points less than Liverpool at the top. Manchester City has lost only 1 of their last 10 matches and is playing in great form both on the defensive and attacking side. In their last EPL match against Aston Villa, City was brutal with 63% of ball possession, 10 shots on goal, 13 corner kicks, and 88% of correct passes. City was in control of this match since the first whistle and has won 3-0 with goals by Sterling, Silva, and Gundogan. Aguero has scored 8 goals for Manchester City so far while Sterling added 7 goals. De Bruyne has 8 assists in 9 matches. Sane, Laporte, Zinchenko and Rodri are all injured and will not be playing in this match. In the Champions League City is at the top of their group with a maximum of 9 points, 10 scored goals and only 1 conceded goal in 3 matches. City was struggling a bit on the defensive end last month with all the injuries but it looks like coach Guardiola has found a winning lineup and those days are behind them. City is one of the best-attacking teams in the world and they are playing soccer with high possession against anyone they play and Guardiola is not giving up on that style no matter what but this season I think Liverpool is playing better soccer overall and City will need to stay consistent and at their best if they want to keep up and stay in the race for the title of the EPL champion.
Southampton is a complete disaster and is one of the weakest teams in the EPL who will most likely get relegated to Championship at the end of this season. In their last match against Leicester at home, Southampton was really, really, really bad. Southampton had only 27% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, and 64% of correct passes. Southampton has lost this game 0-9 at home. Despite Southampton conceding a red card in the 12th minute, and Leicester players might have had their good day, but conceding 9 goals, at home in front of their fans, in the EPL is embarrassing and should never happen. Southampton has scored only 9 goals in the first 10 matches while conceding 25 goals and is in 18th place in the standings with only 8 points. Danny Ings has scored 4 goals for Southampton so far. Djenepo and Cedric are injured and will not play in this match. Southampton is just playing some of the worst soccer in the EPL this season and coach Hasenhuttl will get fired if he doesn't win some points in the next few games. Next three games for Southampton will be hard because they are playing City, Everton, and Arsenal but after that Southampton is playing teams that are about the same quality as they are and that will be a chance for them to win some points and prove that they deserve to be in the EPL.
There is no way in hell I'm siding with Southampton after last week's debacle and for that reason is see City winning here and scoring at least 3 goals.
