Borussia Dortmund is welcoming Wolfsburg to Signal Iduna Park in part of round 10 of German Bundesliga.
Borussia is one of the top teams in Bundesliga and has been waiting for the Bundesliga title for years now. They were close a couple of times but always missed that final step as the season was coming to the end. Dortmund is 5th in the standings at the moment with 16 points, 20 scored goals, and 11 conceded goals. Borussia has lost only 1 of their last 11 matches and that was in the Champions League against Inter last week. In their last match in Bundesliga against M'gladbach, Borussia was a slightly better team with 54% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 10 corner kicks, and 80% of correct passes. Marco Reus was the only goalscorer in this game and Borussia has won 1-0. Alcacer and Reus have both scored 5 goals for Dortmund so far this season while Sancho added 3 goals and 5 assists. Schmelzer is the only injured player and coach Favre will not have him at his disposal for this game. With players like Reus, Sancho, Hazard, Alcacer and Goetze on the team, Borussia has plenty of firepower and depth and their defense is getting better with each game and that will be the key in the long run for Borussia Dortmund and their Bundesliga ambitions. In the Champions League, Borussia is third in their group with Barcelona, Inter and Slavia Prague and I think it would be best for them not to advance from the group stage if they want to increase their chances of winning the Bundesliga.
People are saying that Wolfsburg has been a nice surprise this season but I have been expecting that since the last season and I believe I mentioned that in some of my past articles. Wolfsburg is a good, young team with a great coach who only lacked experience last season which they have now and that is visible on their results. With 17 points, Wolfsburg is in the 4th place in the standings and has scored 11 goals and conceded only 5 goals which make them the best defensive team in the Bundesliga. In their last match against Augsburg, Wolfsburg was a much better team with 56% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 74% of correct passes. This match ended in a 0-0 draw only thanks to Augsburg's defense who had an amazing game. Weghorst is the top goalscorer for Wolfsburg followed by Brekalo who has 2 goals and 3 assists. There is a lot of injured players in Wolfsburg like Camacho, Ginczek, and Mehmedi but most of those players have been injured for a longer period and once they come back, Wolfsburg will be that much better and consistent. Earlier this week Wolfsburg played DFB Pokal match against Leipzig and has lost 1-6 at home and that was the first loss since late May for Wolfsburg. This loss might be the best thing that happened to Wolfsburg because it reminded them that they are not unbeatable and will go into this weekend confident and ready to play against one of the best teams in Bundesliga.
Wolfsburg hasn’t scored a goal while playing in Dortmund for the last 4 games and see this finally happening here because Borussia is still sloppy on the defense and Wolfsburg will know how to use that.
Goran’s Pick Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals combined +110
