Over 2.5 (-188), Under 2.5 (+150)
Aston Villa is welcoming Liverpool to Villa Park in round 11 of the English Premier League.
Aston Villa is the team that belongs to the lower part of the EPL table simply because they don’t have the quality of the game style to compete with most of the teams from the EPL. At the moment Aston Villa is in the 15th place with 11 points, 15 scored goals, and 16 conceded goals and this is where they belong. I do believe that Villa will stay in the EPL next season as well but they will need to play better soccer and win some points against teams like Watford, Norwich, Southampton, and Newcastle. In their last match against Manchester City, Aston Villa was forced to defend the same as many teams before them. Aston Villa had only 37% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, and 80% of correct passes. Villa has lost this match 3-0. Aston Villa has lost only 1 of their last 5 games and has shown us that they are capable of winning some games if they put their minds to it. Wesley is the top goalscorer for Villa with 4 goals, while McGinn added 3 goals. Jota is the only injured player for Aston Villa and will not be in the lineup for this game. Coach Dean Smith was hired in October of last year and was the right choice because he brought Aston Villa to the EPL this season and is doing a great job this season in keeping Aston Villa in the EPL for another season, or even more.
Liverpool is playing fantastic soccer since the season started and they look unstoppable right now. With 9 wins and 1 draw, Liverpool is at the top of the EPL standings with 28 points, 23 scored goals and 8 conceded goals. In the Champions League, Liverpool is in second place with 6 points, just a point behind Napoli is the first place. Mane and Salah are one of the best offensive duets in the world and each of them has scored 5 goals for Liverpool while Firmino added 3 goals. Clyne, Shaqiri, and Matip are injured and will not play in this match. In their last match against Tottenham in the EPL, Liverpool had massive 58% of ball possession, 13 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks, and 84% of correct passes. After conceding a goal in the first minute of the game Liverpool found themselves chasing the score and was able to tie the result in the 52nd minute and to score a winning goal in the 75th minute from a penalty kick. Liverpool is playing nice soccer with high ball possession and extremely high off ball pressure which makes it hard for their opponents to carry the ball outside their half and that is what makes this Liverpool squad extremely dangerous. Jurgen Klopp has once again proved that he is one of the best managers in the world and with time and smart investments he can turn any team into the champions as he did with Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool. Last season Liverpool has won the Champions League and I have a feeling they will finally raise the so much desired EPL trophy because they are the best team overall and are playing the best soccer in England.
All trends aside, I'm not stepping in front of this Liverpool train for any money and as long as they are riding this streak and playing this kind of soccer, I'm siding with Liverpool.
