Over 2.5 (+162), Under 2.5 (-200)
Deportivo Alaves is welcoming Atletico Madrid to Estadio de Mendizorroza in round 11 of Spanish LaLiga.
Alaves is not playing good soccer and has won only 2 of their last 10 games. With 11 points, Alaves is in 14th place in the standings and has 3 wins, 2 draws, and 5 losses. In their last game against Villarreal this past weekend, Alaves was not good and has had only 37% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, and only 69% of correct passes. Alaves was forced to defend for the whole match and has lost this game 4-1. Lucas Perez is the leading goalscorer for Alaves with 4 goals, while Joselu has 3 goals. Rodrigo Ely and Tomas Pina are both injured and will not be in the lineup. Alaves has a solid team with some good players like Joselu, Perez, Guidetti and Aleix Vidal but coach Asier Garitano is not doing a good job with preparing his players and developing playing style for this team. If Garitano doesn't turn things around soon, Alaves will end up in the relegation zone and he will get fired and in my opinion, sooner that happens, the better for this club. As i said, Alaves has a solid team and enough quality to be in the upper half of the standings, but I don't see that happening for the time being.
Atletico Madrid is on a roll and hasn’t lost any of their last 9 games. Atletico is in 4th place in the standings with 19 points, 10 scored goals and only 5 conceded goals which makes them the best defensive team in LaLiga. In the Champions League Atletico is in 2nd place behind Juventus with the same number of points. In their last LaLiga match against Athletic Bilbao, Atletico Madrid was solid with 45% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, and 82% of correct passes. This was a tough and rough game for both teams where Atletico played their usual defensive game and they scored 2 goals from their only 2 shots on goal, but the hero of this match was Atletico's goalkeeper Jan Oblak who saved 4 goal chances that Athletic Bilbao had and he is the main reason why Atletico won this match. Atletico Madrid is a team that doesn't score a lot of goals and has scored only 10 goals so far in this season. Morata, Vitolo, Costa, and Felix all have 2 goals each while Partey and Niguez have each scored 1 goal. Some important players in Atletico Madrid are injured like Savic and Gimenez who are coach Simeone's starting central defenders and young superstar Joao Felix who is playing some great soccer in the attacking part of the team. Injuries of Gimenez and Savic could potentially be the huge problem for Simeone in the future but new defensive pair Felipe and Hermoso did good against Bilbao and they are expected to start in this match as well. I don't think that Atletico will come close to the title in LaLiga because their game style is too defensive, but they will end up in the top 4 in LaLiga for sure.
Alaves hasn't won any of their last 4 matches against Atletico and while Alaves has some chances here because of all the injuries in Atletico Madrid, I will still side with Atletico because Alaves is playing bad soccer and can't keep the ball out of their net.
