Roma is welcoming Milan to Stadio Olimpico in a derby match of round 9 of Italian Serie A.

Roma has lost only 1 match since March of this year but also hasn’t won any of their last 4 games, they have 4 draws. Earlier this week Roma played against Borussia M’gladbach in the Champions League and was leading since the 32nd minute but got scored on from a penalty kick in the last minute and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Roma is in 6th place in the Serie A standings with 13 points but to be honest they have the quality for so much more. In their last Serie A match against Sampdoria, Roma was the better team with 66% of ball possession, 1 shot on goal, 9 corner kicks, and 85% of correct passes. It was a rough game with a lot of fouls and not a lot of shots or goal chances and the game ended in a 0-0 draw. This was one of the few rare games where Roma hasn't scored a goal and I'm sure coach Paulo Fonseca is doing everything to prevent that from happening again. Edin Dzeko is the leading goalscorer for Roma with 4 goals while Kolarov has 3 goals. Pellegrini has 4 assists so far this season. Roma has a lot of injured players like Pellegrini, Zappacosta, and Diawara who are some of the most important players for this club while Kluivert is suspended due to a red card. Roma is playing good soccer this season and coach Fonseca is doing the awesome job despite all the injuries and once all those players will come back Roma will climb the standings fast. Napoli, Juventus, and Inter are the top three teams, but Roma alongside Atalanta and Juventus will be fighting for that fourth spot that leads to Champions League.

Milan is a complete and utter disaster in every aspect of this game. A coach that was supposed to get them out of the dark and close to Juventus is fired and the new coach Pioli isn't showing any signs of improvement as well. With only 1 win in their last 5 matches, Milan is in 12th place in the standings with only 10 points, 8 scored goals, and 11 conceded goals. In their last match against Lecce at home, Milan was attacking and has had 64% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks, and 87% of correct passes. Milan was a better team here and was leading 2-1 just get scored on in the last minute and the match ended in a 2-2 draw. It's hard to imagine that Milan can be a competitive team for the title if they can't beat one of the weakest teams in the Serie A. Milan has some good players like Calhanoglu, Piatek, Rebic and Suso and one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Donnarumma but they sucked for the last few seasons now and it seems that is not going away soon. What Milan has to do is to open up their wallet and sign a new coach, a coach with a vision and skill to build up some chemistry in this team. This season Milan is playing only in the Serie A and if they don't start turning things around soon, Milan won't play in Europa League or the Champions League next year as well. Piatek has scored 3 goals for Milan this season while Calhanoglu has scored twice. Bonaventura is the only injured player for Milan but he has been struggling with the same injury for the entire last season and now his career is in danger. Milan was able to stop their opponents from scoring in only 2 games this season and their defense is not giving me any confidence, at least not for now.

All trends aside, I'm not siding with Milan even if I had a gun to my head. Sure, Milan is bound to get out of this slump at some point but Roma is playing good soccer and is playing at home. I'm siding with Roma.
