Over 2.5 (-200), Under 2.5 (+162)
Arsenal is hosting Crystal Palace at Emirates Stadium in part of round 10 of the English Premier League.
Arsenal has slipped up last weekend against Sheffield United where they lost 0-1. Arsenal was a much better team in that game with 69% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 12 corner kicks, and 87% of correct passes. Neither offense nor Arsenal’s defense was on the level and it cost them 3 important points. Arsenal is 5th in the standings at the moment with 15 points with 13 scored goals and 12 conceded goals and coach Emery can’t seem to get some consistency on the defensive end. Aubameyang is Arsenal’s top goalscorer with 7 goals and is expected to be in the starting lineup in this match. Nelson is the only injured player and will not be in the lineup. Arsenal is playing Europa League match this week against Vitoria Sport Clube at home and is a huge favorite in this match. I’m not expecting this to be to hard match for Arsenal and they certainly have enough depth to rest some players in this game because Arsenal is at the top of their group in the Europa League with 6 points and without a conceded goal. Arsenal is playing fun and fast soccer and is creating a lot of goal chances, but as I've said earlier defense is their biggest problem and if Emery doesn’t fix that, chances of Arsenal ending up in the top 4 will be slim.
Crystal Palace failed to score a goal in their last week's match against Manchester City even though they had their chances. Palace was forced to defend for the entire match and has had only 28% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 1 corner kick and only 75% of correct passes. Crystal Palace lost that game 0-2. Jordan Ayew is the leading goalscorer for Crystal Palace with 3 goals while Van Aanholt has 2 goals. Mamadou Sakho is an important defensive player for coach Roy Hodgson but he is injured and is not expected to play in this game. Palace is sitting high in 6th place in the standings with 14 points but only 8 scored goals in 9 games. Crystal Palace is a talented team who is led by an experienced coach and they have a lot of potentials to stay somewhere between 10th place and where they are now. As the season will move on, Palace will be losing their consistency simply because they lack depth and if they sell Zaha in the winter transfer window their chances will decrease rapidly. Zaha is Palace’s best player for the last 2 seasons and is wanted by many EPL top teams but he hasn’t caught the good form yet and that is the main reason for Crystal Palace’s inefficiency this season.
While Arsenal might be the better team, their defense is not giving me the confidence to side with them. If we add to that, that Arsenal is playing in the Europa League this week, I see goals in this match on both sides.
