Over 2.5 (-125), Under 2.5 (+100)
Manchester United is hosting Liverpool at Old Trafford in a derby match of round 9 of the English Premier League.
Manchester is a disaster this season and is playing bad soccer on both ends of the field. With only 1 win in their last 5 games, Manchester is in 12th place in the standings with only 9 points from the first 8 games. In their last match against Newcastle, Manchester was the better team with 69% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, and 86% of correct passes. The attack was the worst part of United's game in this match and they weren't able to score a goal and they lost this game 1-0. James and Rashford have two goals each while Martial has 2 goals and McTominay has 1 goal. There are a lot of injuries in Manchester United and some important players like Bailly, Shaw, Jones, Wan-Bissaka, Pogba, and Martial are all listed as questionable. De Gea had some problems with injury as well but he should be ready for this derby. If you look at the names of the players in Manchester's roster you would think they will reach at least Champions League semifinal and be in top three in the EPL without a problem, but something is rotten in Manchester United. Lousy defense starting from De Gea between the posts who are in a terrible form, slow midfield with McTominay who couldn't play for my street and inefficient offense who can't score a goal. The only bright point for United this season is Daniel James, young and talented winger who is super fast and is playing great soccer. Solskjer started great as the head coach last season and Manchester was playing fantastic soccer, but somewhere before the season ended everything went downhill. I don't doubt that Manchester will start playing better soccer soon, but I'm afraid that might be after they hire a new coach.
Liverpool is the best team overall in England and is still unbeaten this season. With a maximum of 24 points, 20 scored goals, and only 6 conceded goals Liverpool is at the top of the standings and has 8 points advantage in front of Manchester City. In their last match against Leicester, Liverpool had 50% of ball possession, 8 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, and 78% of correct passes. Liverpool was a bit slow in this game but was able to win this match 2-1 by a penalty kick goal from James Milner in 95th minute. Sadio Mane is the leading goalscorer for Liverpool with 4 goals, Salah has 4 goals and Firmino has 3 goals. Shaqiri and Clyne are injured, while Matip and Salah are listed as questionable. Good news for Liverpool is that their starting goalkeeper Alisson has recovered and is expected to stand between the posts. Jurgen Klopp is one of the top 3 coaches in the world, if not the best one and he has turned Liverpool into an almost unbeatable machine who is playing great soccer offensively, steady and calm soccer on the defensive end and is pressuring their opponents on every part of the field. Liverpool has won the Champions League last season and their goal for this season is to finally win EPL title, and I think they will because Liverpool is the best team overall in England.
Head to head, Manchester has the advantage but there is no way in hell I'm staking any money on this United team. I think Liverpool gets the job done here with at least 2 scored goals.
