Borussia Dortmund vs. Borussia M'gladbach 10/19/19 German Bundesliga Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction
Over 2.5 (-275), Under 2.5 (+220)
Borussia Dortmund is hosting Borussia M’gladbach at Signal Iduna Park in a derby match of round 8 of German Bundesliga.
Borussia is alongside Bayern the best team in Bundesliga and one of the main favorites for the title. Dortmund is 8th in the standings with 12 points, 19 scored goals, and 11 conceded goals. Dortmund has lost only 1 match since May of this year and is one of the most dangerous teams in Europe. In their last match against Freiburg, Dortmund was a better team with 66% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 11 corner kicks, and 86% of correct passes. After leading twice in this game, Borussia scored an own goal in 89th minute and the game ended in a 2-2 draw. Offensively, Dortmund is playing fantastic soccer at a fast pace and a lot of plays through the wings, but Dortmund is still struggling with consistency on the defensive end. Paco Alcacer is Dortmund's top goalscorer with 5 goals while Reus has 4 goals. Jadon Sancho has 3 goals and 5 assists and is once again one of Borussia's best players. Schulz and Alcacer are both injured and will not be in the lineup. Lucien Favre is one of the best coaches in Europe in my opinion and he likes fast and technical soccer. The only problem for Borussia is the lack of consistency on the defensive end and playing in Bundesliga and Champions League could be a potential problem for Dortmund. I believe that Borussia's management is aware of this problem and their priority is bringing another defensive player in the winter transfer window.
M'gladbach is at the top of Bundesliga at the moment with 16 points and they are playing really good soccer. In their last match against Augsburg at home, M'gladbach was amazing with 62% of ball possession, 9 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, and 87% of correct passes. M'gladbach has won this match 5-1. Plea has scored 4 goals and added 4 assists for M'gladbach while Embolo and Thuram have each scored 2 goals. Hofmann, Musel, Strobl, Johnson, and Traore are all injured and this could be a potential problem for M'gladbach in a game this big as this. M'gladbach is doing fantastic and coach Marco Rose is doing a great job, and I'm sure nobody in M'gladbach expected for them to be at the top of the standings after 7 matches. Borussia M'gladbach has the quality and the gameplay to be in the top five but I think they lack experience and depth to keep up with Bayern and Dortmund. M'gladbach is playing solid soccer at the moment but I don't think they can keep it up for much longer because they are playing in Europa League as well. The schedule for M'gladbach is getting pretty tough in the next month and they will need to make some hard decisions, are they gonna fight to stay in Europa League or will they try to stay at the top of Bundesliga for as long as possible.
When Dortmund and M'gladbach meet games are always exciting and fun to watch and I expect the same here. I Expect a lot of chances, great moves and at least 3 goals in this match.
