THURSDAY NIGHT NBA TOP PLAY #2
Denver Nuggets (54-33) at Los Angeles Lakers (60-21)

The Denver Nuggets absolutely blitzed the Clippers in game seven and now have a rested Lakers team waiting for their crack at the Nuggets. The issue for me is that while the Lakers are rested, rest can also equal rust and it could take a while for the Lakers to get their legs underneath them.
We’ve also seen the Lakers get off to slow starts in each of their first two series, losing game one outright and another common trend between L.A.’s opponents, is superior guard play as Jamal Murray was unconscious in the last three games against the Clippers and the Lakers simply don’t have the kind of guard play to counter that, and I’m also not banking on Rajon Rondo to be the guy to stop it. If Nikola Jokic keeps up his play as well, this Nuggets team will pose a real threat to the Lakers and I’m hoping that’s the case. Denver also coasted for a lot of that 4th quarter against the Clippers, which is a change from how they entered that series having gone to war with Utah in game seven the series prior so I think we see a fairly energized Nuggets bunch coming in here.
Either way, you could take the points as I feel the Nuggets cover this game, but I’m taking the Nuggets to win this game outright on the money line as my premium pick for this game as I think it’s another slow start for the Lakers to a series.
