From the moment that Justin Gaethje won the interim lightweight title against Tony Ferguson, I had a feeling that he’s the guy that can give Khabib Nurmagomedov the most trouble and is the biggest threat to his undefeated record. Khabib is a legend, but Gaethje fits the mould of the kind of fight/fighter that can beat Khabib. A lot of Khabib’s opponents back up and that allows Khabib to shoot in for takedowns. Gaethje is always on the front foot, and is known for not only being an all-american D-I NCAA wrestler with power in both of his fists, but also for his aggressiveness and high pressure style that once again, is going to be key to avoiding Khabib’s takedown attempts which is where Nurmagomedov is most dangerous. I think Gaethje figures out Khabib here and pulls off the upset and shocks the world, handing Nurmagomedov his first loss. Give me Justin Gaethje on the money line as my premium pick for this fight.
