Chris' MONDAY MLB MASHER #3
New York Yankees (35-27) at Tampa Bay Rays (42-20)

I get why the Yankees would be favored after Gerrit Cole’s opening start to the playoffs with 13 strikeouts in seven strong innings. However, the Rays finishing with the AL’s best record was no fluke as Tampa Bay went 8-2 against the Yankees this season, and the Rays were a thorn in Cole’s side this year, taking down the Yankees’ ace to the tune of an 0-1 record with a 4.96 ERA across three starts this season, with the Yankees going 1-2 in those starts. Albeit he only went eight combined innings, the Rays also won both of Snell’s starts against the Yankees this season. Playing a neutral venue like Petco Park also benefits the Rays who tend to play more small ball/station to station ball anyways while the Yankees’ bats may be stifled in the pitcher-friendly park. I’ll take Tampa Bay and the plus money as my premium pick for this game.
