WEALTHY WEDNESDAY MLB #6
San Diego Padres (22-15) at Los Angeles Angels (12-24)

The Padres were buyers for the first time in a long time at the trade deadline, and it’s hard not to like them going forward after a lot of those moves, especially bringing in solid pieces like Mike Clevinger and Austin Nola. The Angels brought in Anthony Rendon in the offseason but put all of their eggs in that one basket and didn’t focus on starting pitching and it’s shown. The Angels are in the bottom of the AL West and now have to start Julio Teheran who is a shell of the pseudo-ace he once was. In two home starts for the Angels, Teheran has a hideous 15.19 ERA and while Dinelson Lamet has had a history of gassing himself out early in games, he’s still got nasty stuff and can hit 100 on the radar gun consistently. The Padres are also the deeper team from top-to-bottom in the batting order, and I think that the Padres make a statement on Wednesday with a win by a couple. Give me San Diego -1.5 as my premium pick for this game.
