Providence Friars -1.5
The Virginia Cavaliers will travel to the Prudential Center to take on the Providence Friars this Tuesday night and I like the Friars to cover this small spread.
Virginia comes into this game with a 3-2 record, however, this team just hasn’t looked very impressive this season and once again is really struggling to score the basketball. Virginia, despite playing some very poor defensive teams in Coppin State & Georgia, still come into this game ranked t-313th in scoring offense, 280th in FG%, & t-311th in 3P-FG%.
Providence comes into this game with a 5-0 record, with quality wins over Wisconsin & Northwestern and have been solid on both ends of the court to start the season. Providence has some solid experience and come into this game ranked 126th in scoring offense, t-32nd in FG%, t-118th in scoring defense, & 66th in rebound margin.
The Cavaliers are just 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall & 1-4 ATS in their last 5 neutral site games. The Friars are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
I expect Virginia’s offense to continue to struggle in this one and as I think the Friars are just the more well-balanced team, I think the play here is to take Providence to cover. Good Luck!
