At 8:10 pm, our selection is on the Tampa Bay Lightning over the New York Islanders. You can never count a team out after just two games of a best-of-seven series, but if ever there was a game that seemed to take all of the wind out of a competitor's sails, it was Game 2 of this series. And the Islanders really have no one to blame but themselves. They out-shot the Lightning in the game, and failed to capitalize on plenty of opportunities (including a 5-on-3 for about 30 seconds in the third period). It looked like the game was heading to OT when Tampa scored the game-winner with just 10 seconds left in regulation. The Bolts did lose Brayden Point to a hip injury during the game, so the speedy winger may not be available tonight. But it likely won't matter as this just seems to be a team which takes full advantage of its opportunities regardless of who is out on the ice. Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy was once again superb for Tampa, stopping all but one of the 28 shots he faced. Tampa is 16-3 in its last 19 after allowing one goal or less, and is 15-2 after winning its previous four games. Take the Lightning. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.
