- Sean Manaea, who did not pitch in the Wild Card round, posted a 2.65 ERA in his last six starts of the regular season after opening the season with a 7.65 ERA in his first five starts. In his first career postseason game, Framber Valdez pitched 5.0 scoreless innings in Game 1 of the Wild Card round against Minnesota, allowing just two hits while striking out five.
- Valdez is 0-1 lifetime against the A's over three appearances. His lone start in those outing came Aug. 8, when he gave up just two runs (one earned) on seven hits over seven innings with one walk and nine strikeouts. However, he still came away with the loss in a 3-1 Oakland victory.
