Alabama Crimson Tide (12-0) vs Ohio State Buckeyes (7-0)

Coming off an upset win against Clemson in the Semifinal game, Ohio State is riding high with thoughts of winning their first national championship since 2014. Now they face #1 Alabama for all the marbles. Alabama didn’t look like their high-flying selves in a comfortable 31-14 win vs Norte Dame, so when handicapping this game, I took the complete body of work into account and couldn’t just think about what I saw in the last game. Alabama has been a juggernaut this season and the only team that came within a touchdown of them was a high-powered offensive team in Florida. OSU is an offensive demon themselves but do it more with the running game. That will be the key: can OSU run against Alabama’s front line enough to keep it within the number? And can Justin Fields air it out against Bama’s talented secondary? My answer is no, not enough to keep it within 8.5. Alabama is on notice and Nick Saban will have something to slow down the Buckeyes’ running game and opportunistic passing attack. This won’t be a blowout by any means, but Alabama’s offense is just too strong and it will show in this game as the second quarter winds down. Once Bama has a lead they’ll salt the clock away to victory with their run game and take some deep shots when OSU bears down to stop it. This should be at the very least an 11 point game. Lay the points. Roll Tide.
