In this article we will formulate a Sharks vs Stars prediction for this NHL game on Friday, December 5th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup.

San Jose Sharks Betting Preview

The San Jose Sharks are 13-12-3 this year after they lost to Washington by a score of 7-1 in their last game. San Jose allowed four goals in the first period, two in the second, and one in the third, but did score with about seven minutes left to avoid the shutout. The Sharks were out shot by a total of 31-24, won 44% of the face-offs, and went 1-5 on the power play in the game. San Jose got their lone goal from Regenda, while Askarov stopped eight out of 12 shots and Nedeljkovic stopped 16 out of 19.

Prior to that game, San Jose defeated the Mammoth by a score of 6-3, but lost to the Golden Knights by a score of 4-3 before that. The Sharks have alternated wins and losses over their last eight games and they are currently fourth in the Pacific standings with 29 points. San Jose has scored 2.86 goals per game and they have allowed 3.32 goals against per game, while also going 19.2% on the power play and 81.1% on the penalty kill this season. Macklin Celebrini has led SJ with 14 goals and 26 assists, while Will Smith has added 12 goals and 15 assists. The projected starting goalie for San Jose is Yaroslav Askarov, who is 10-7-1 with a 3.15 goals against average and a .905 save percentage this year.

Dallas Stars Betting Preview

The Dallas Stars are 18-5-5 this season after they defeated New Jersey by a score of 3-0 in their last game. Dallas scored twice in the second period and once in the third for the shutout win. The Stars were out shot by a total of 30-28, won 38.2% of the face-offs, and went 0-1 on the power play in the game. Dallas got goals from Rantanen, Robertson, and Heiskanen, while Oettinger stopped all 30 shots in the shutout victory.

Prior to that game, Dallas lost to the Rangers in overtime by a score of 3-2, but did beat the Senators by a score of 6-1 before that. The Stars have won five of their last six games and they are currently second in the Central standings with 41 points. Dallas has scored 3.43 goals per game and they have allowed 2.57 goals against per game, while also going 31.5% on the power play and 80.9% on the penalty kill this season. Jason Robertson has led Dallas with 17 goals and 19 assists, while Mikko Rantanen has added 12 goals and 23 assists. The projected starting goalie for Dallas is Jake Oettinger, who is 12-4-2 with a 2.60 goals against average and a .906 save percentage this season.

Sharks vs Stars Prediction

Dallas continues to be one of the hottest teams in the NHL right now, as they have won 11 of their last 14 games. The Stars are 8-4-1 at home this year, while the Sharks are 4-7-0 on the road. San Jose has alternated wins and losses over their last eight games, but they just lost 7-1 to Washington last time out. The Sharks have allowed 22 goals in their last five games and I just don’t see their goaltending being good enough here. Take the Stars to win by at least two goals.

David Racey's Pick: Stars -1.5
