Buffalo Sabres Betting Preview

The Buffalo Sabres are 31-18-5 this year after they lost to Montreal by a score of 4-2 in their last game. Buffalo led 2-1 after the second period, but they allowed three goals in the third for the loss. The Sabres out shot Montreal by a total of 38-31, won 29.8% of the face-offs, and went 1-4 on the power play in the game. Buffalo got goals from Ostlund and Power, while Lyon stopped 27 out of 30 shots, which was a .900 save percentage.

Prior to that game, Buffalo defeated the Kings by a score of 4-1 and the Maple Leafs by a score of 7-4. The Sabres have won five of their last six games and they are currently fifth in the Atlantic standings with 67 points. Buffalo has scored 3.37 goals per game and they have allowed 3.04 goals against per game, while also going 19.6% on the power play and 82.8% on the penalty kill this season. The projected starting goalie for Buffalo is Alex Lyon, who is 13-7-3 with a 2.64 goals against average and a .913 save percentage this year.

Florida Panthers Betting Preview

The Florida Panthers are 28-23-3 this season after they lost to Winnipeg by a score of 2-1 in their last game. Florida led 1-0 for most of the game, but they allowed two goals in the third period for the loss. The Panthers out shot Winnipeg by a total of 28-21, won 41.2% of the face-offs, and went 0-2 on the power play in the game. Florida got their lone goal from Luostarinen, while Bobrovsky stopped 19 out of 21 shots, which was a .905 save percentage.

Sabres vs Panthers Prediction

Florida comes into this matchup on a three game losing streak and they picked up a bad loss to Winnipeg last time out. The Panthers are 14-12-3 at home this year, while the Sabres are 14-11-2 on the road. Buffalo had their winning streak snapped in their last game, but they are still red hot over the last two months. Buffalo has scored at least four goals in four of their last five games, but they are due for some regression, especially from their goalies. I think this is a tough spot for the Sabres against a desperate Florida team coming off of a bad loss. Take the Panthers at home.
