In this article we will formulate a Red Wings vs Canucks prediction for this NHL game on Monday, December 8th at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup.

Detroit Red Wings Betting Preview

The Detroit Red Wings are 15-11-3 this season after they defeated Seattle by a score of 4-3 in their last game. Detroit blew a 2-1 lead in the second period, but they tied the game late in the second and scored the winning goal with about 2:30 left in the third. The Red Wings were out shot by a total of 27-25, won 55.6% of the face-offs, and went 1-1 on the power play in the game. Detroit got goals from Copp, Finnie, Kane, and van Riemsdyk, while Gibson stopped 24 out of 27 shots, which was an .889 save percentage.

Prior to that game, Detroit lost to the Blue Jackets by a score of 6-5, but did beat the Bruins by a score of 5-4 before that. The Red Wings have won two of their last three games and they are currently fourth in the Atlantic standings with 34 points. Detroit has scored 3.07 goals per game and they have allowed 3.45 goals against per game, while also going 24.5% on the power play and 78.2% on the penalty kill this season. Dylan Larkin has led Detroit with 15 goals and 16 assists, while Lucas Raymond has added 10 goals and 21 assists. The projected starting goalie for Detroit is Cam Talbot, who is 9-4-2 with a 3.01 goals against average and an .884 save percentage this season.

Vancouver Canucks Betting Preview

The Vancouver Canucks are 11-15-3 this year after they defeated Minnesota by a score of 4-2 in their last game. Vancouver trailed 1-0 after the first period, but they scored the next four goals to pull away with the win. The Canucks were out shot by a total of 30-20, won 63.3% of the face-offs, and went 0-3 on the power play in the game. Vancouver got goals from Raty (2), Pettersson, and Willander, while Tolopilo stopped 28 out of 30 shots, which was a .933 save percentage.

Prior to that game, Vancouver lost to the Mammoth by a score of 4-1 and the Avalanche by a score of 3-1. The Canucks have lost four of their last five games and they are currently last in the Pacific standings with 25 points. Vancouver has scored 2.86 goals per game and they have allowed 3.59 goals against per game, while also going 19.4% on the power play and 71.4% on the penalty kill this season. Elias Pettersson has led Vancouver with eight goals and 14 assists, while Quinn Hughes has added two goals and 20 assists. The projected starting goalie for Vancouver is Kevin Lankinen, who is 4-9-3 with a 3.45 goals against average and an .881 save percentage this year.

Red Wings vs Canucks Prediction

Vancouver comes into this matchup after snapping their losing streak with a win over Minnesota on Saturday, but they have really struggled over the last two weeks. The Canucks are 4-8-1 at home this year, while the Red Wings are 6-5-2 on the road. Detroit is 2-0-2 in their last four games and while their defensive play is very sloppy, I don’t think the Canucks will take advantage. Vancouver has scored two goals or fewer in four of their last five games, so I like Detroit here.
