Ottawa Senators Recap

The Ottawa Senators come into this game looking to build on their 5-4 win to start the year against the Tampa Bay Lightning with a 1-0 record. After this game, Ottawa will head home for a game against the Nashville Predators.

Senators Looking To Replicate Opening Game For Sunshine State Sweep

Tampa Bay opened the scoring with a goal 5:35 into the game before doubling the lead just 1:25 later. Dylan Cozens got Ottawa on the board on the power play, before Tampa responded with a PP marker of their own with just over five minutes to go in the first. Artem Zub would pull a goal back for Ottawa 42 seconds into the middle period before Shane Pinto would tie the game at three with just under five minutes to go. The 3-3 tie would hold for much of the third before Pinto would net his second of the game with 1:47 to go, giving Ottawa a 4-3 lead and Claude Giroux would make it 5-3 with an empty-netter just under a minute later. That proved to be big as Tampa pulled a goal back with 14 seconds to go, but it was too little too late as Ottawa held on for the win. Linus Ullmark got the win after stopping 21 of 25 shots faced in the winning effort to improve to 1-0 this season.

Ottawa Senators vs. Florida Panthers Prediction

I’m on the Panthers here. The Panthers for me are still a team I expect to start slow out of the gate, and we’ve seen that in a pair of one-goal wins over the Blackhawks and Flyers. That being said, wins are wins and I think the Panthers get another one here against a Senators team that’s had no luck in Florida the last few years. Give me the Panthers at home in this one.

Chris Ruffolo's Pick: Florida -145
