In this article we will formulate an Ottawa Senators vs Boston Bruins prediction for this NHL game on Thursday, January 23rd at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup.

Ottawa Senators Betting Preview

The Ottawa Senators are 24-19-4 this season after they lost to the Rangers by a score of 5-0 in their last game. Ottawa allowed one goal in the first, one in the second, and three in the third for the shutout loss. The Senators were outshot by a total of 29-20, won 45.3% of the face-offs, and went 0-2 on the power play in the game. Ottawa was led by Highmore and Tkachuk, who both had four shots on goal, while Merilainen and Forsberg combined to stop 24 out of 29 shots in the loss.

Prior to that game, the Senators defeated the Devils by a score of 2-1 and the Bruins by a score of 6-5. Ottawa has won five of their last seven games and they are fourth in the Atlantic standings with 52 points. Ottawa has scored 2.79 goals per game and they have allowed 2.79 goals against per game, while also going 22.7% on the power play and 77.9% on the penalty kill this season. Tim Stutzle has led Ottawa with 15 goals, 30 assists, and 92 shots on goal, while Drake Batherson has added 14 goals, 26 assists, and 97 shots on goal. Leevi Merilainen is 6-3-1 with a 2.32 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage this year.

Boston Bruins Betting Preview

The Boston Bruins are 23-20-6 this year after they lost to New Jersey by a score of 5-1 in their last game. Boston led 1-0 after the first period, but they allowed the last five goals in the game for the loss. The Bruins were outshot by a total of 35-23, won 50% of the face-offs, and went 0-3 on the power play in the game. Boston got their lone goal from Geekie, while Swayman allowed four goals on 29 shots in the game.

Prior to that loss, the Bruins defeated the Sharks by a score of 6-3 but did lose to the Senators by a score of 6-5 before that. Boston has won three of their last five games and they are currently tied for fourth in the Atlantic standings with 52 points. Boston has scored 2.77 goals per game and they have allowed 3.17 goals against per game, while also going 13.8% on the power play and 75.9% on the penalty kill this season. David Pastrnak has led Boston with 22 goals, 31 assists, and 199 shots on goal, while Brad Marchand has added 17 goals, 20 assists, and 140 shots on goal. Joonas Korpisalo is 8-4-2 with a 2.87 goals against average and an .891 save percentage this season.

Ottawa Senators vs Boston Bruins Prediction

Boston comes into this matchup after losing to New Jersey on Wednesday night, so they will be on a back-to-back here. The Bruins are 14-7-3 at home this year, while the Senators are 12-12-2 on the road. Ottawa has played very well over the last two weeks, but they have had some issues scoring consistently. The Senators were just shut out by the Rangers by a score of 5-0 and they have scored two goals or fewer in four of their last five games. I don’t love the Bruins being on a back-to-back, but I can’t trust this Ottawa offense right now. Take Boston at home.

David Racey's Pick: Bruins ML
