In this article we will formulate a Maple Leafs vs Canadiens prediction for this NHL game on Saturday, November 22nd at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup.

Toronto Maple Leafs Betting Preview

The Toronto Maple Leafs are 9-9-3 this season after they lost to Columbus in overtime by a score of 3-2 in their last game. Toronto trailed 2-0 in the second period, but they were able to tie the game in the third, before losing in the last minute of overtime. The Maple Leafs were out shot by a total of 30-29, won 68.8% of the face-offs, and went 0-2 on the power play in the game. Toronto got goals from Tavares and Mermis, while Woll stopped 27 out of 30 shots, which was a .900 save percentage.

Prior to that game, Toronto defeated the Blues by a score of 3-2, but did lose to the Blackhawks by a score of 3-2 before that. The Maple Leafs have lost six of their last seven games and they are currently second to last in the Atlantic standings with 21 points. Toronto has scored 3.43 goals per game and they have allowed 3.67 goals against per game, while also going 14.5% on the power play and 79.0% on the penalty kill this season. John Tavares has led Toronto with 12 goals and 15 assists, while William Nylander has added nine goals and 18 assists. The projected starting goalie for Toronto is Joseph Woll, who is 1-1-1 with a 2.57 goals against average and a .923 save percentage this season.

Montreal Canadiens Betting Preview

The Montreal Canadiens are 10-7-3 this year after they lost to Washington by a score of 8-4 in their last game. Montreal cut the deficit to 5-4 in the third period, but they allowed three goals in the last four minutes for the lopsided loss. The Canadiens were out shot by a total of 36-28, won 54.5% of the face-offs, and went 1-3 on the power play in the game. Montreal got goals from Gallagher, Suzuki, Veleno, and Matheson, while Montembeault stopped seven out of 10 shots and Dobes stopped 21 out of 25.

Prior to that game, Montreal lost to the Blue Jackets by a score of 4-3 and the Bruins by a score of 3-2. The Canadiens have lost five games in a row and they are currently sixth in the Atlantic standings with 23 points. Montreal has scored 3.35 goals per game and they have allowed 3.60 goals against per game, while also going 22.0% on the power play and 76.8% on the penalty kill this season. Nick Suzuki has led Montreal with five goals and 17 assists, while Cole Caufield has added 13 goals and eight assists. The projected starting goalie for Montreal is Sam Montembeault, who is 4-5-1 with a 3.72 goals against average and an .852 save percentage this year.

Maple Leafs vs Canadiens Prediction

Montreal comes into this matchup looking to snap their lengthy losing streak, but they have allowed at least four goals in four of their last five games. The Canadiens are 5-5-1 at home this year, while the Maple Leafs are 1-5-0 on the road. Toronto has lost six of their last seven games and they have scored two regulation goals or fewer in three straight. I do think Toronto has been the better team recently, as they are 1-1-2 in their last four, but I don’t love it. Take the Leafs here.
