In this article we will formulate a Kings vs Oilers prediction for this NHL game on Saturday, January 10th at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup.

Los Angeles Kings Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Kings are playing a game later on Friday night against the Jets, which is not included in this article. The Kings are 18-14-10 this season after they lost to San Jose in overtime by a score of 4-3 in their last game. Los Angeles led 3-2 late in the third period, but they allowed the tying goal with 1:07 left and lost in overtime. The Kings were out shot by a total of 28-26, won 44.6% of the face-offs, and went 0-3 on the power play in the game. Los Angeles got goals from Fiala, Laferriere, and Turcotte, while Kuemper stopped 24 out of 28 shots, which was an .857 save percentage.

Prior to that game, Los Angeles defeated the Wild in back to back games by scores of 4-2 and 5-4. The Kings have lost three of their last five games and they are currently fifth in the Pacific standings with 46 points. Los Angeles has scored 2.67 goals per game and they have allowed 2.67 goals against per game, while also going 15.6% on the power play and 77.2% on the penalty kill this season. Adrian Kempe has led LA with 15 goals and 19 assists, while Kevin Fiala has added 16 goals and 15 assists. The projected starting goalie for Los Angeles is Anton Forsberg, who is 6-6-3 with a 2.70 goals against average and a .901 save percentage this season.

Edmonton Oilers Betting Preview

The Edmonton Oilers are 22-16-6 this year after they defeated Winnipeg by a score of 4-3 in their last game. Edmonton trailed 3-1 in the first period, but they scored once in the second and twice in the third to escape with the win. The Oilers out shot Winnipeg by a total of 30-16, won 52.3% of the face-offs, and went 1-2 on the power play in the game. Edmonton got goals from Hyman, McDavid, Podkolzin, and Bouchard, while Pickard stopped 13 out of 16 shots, which was an .813 save percentage.

Prior to that game, Edmonton defeated the Predators by a score of 6-2, but lost to the Flyers by a score of 5-2 before that. The Oilers have split their last four games and they are currently second in the Pacific standings with 50 points. Edmonton has scored 3.39 goals per game and they have allowed 3.32 goals against per game, while also going 34.2% on the power play and 80.0% on the penalty kill this season. Connor McDavid has led Edmonton with 29 goals and 48 assists, while Leon Draisaitl has added 21 goals and 40 assists. The projected starting goalie for Edmonton is Connor Ingram, who is 3-2-0 with a 3.02 goals against average and an .891 save percentage this year.

Kings vs Oilers Prediction

Edmonton comes into this matchup looking for their third win in a row and they have scored 10 goals in their last two games. The Oilers are 11-5-3 at home this year, while the Kings are 11-5-5 on the road. Los Angeles has won two of their last three games, but they are playing on Friday night and will be on a back to back. Edmonton has had problems with goaltending this season, but LA will be using Forsberg, who I don’t love. Take the Oilers -1.5 here.

David Racey's Pick: Oilers -1.5
