In this article we will formulate a Hurricanes vs Panthers prediction for this NHL game on Saturday, May 24th at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Carolina Hurricanes Betting Preview

The Carolina Hurricanes are down 0-2 in this series and they desperately need a win in this game. Carolina lost game two by a score of 5-0 and they were outscored 10-2 in games one and two. In their game two loss, Carolina fell behind just 1:17 into the first period and they never recovered in the shutout loss. The Hurricanes recorded 17 shots on goal, won 51.9% of the face-offs, and went 0-3 on the power play in the game. Carolina was led by Orlov and Roslovic, who both had three shots on goal, while Staal led the way with seven hits. Frederik Andersen stopped 12 out of 16 shots in the loss, while Kochetkov stopped four out of five shots in relief.

Prior to this series, Carolina defeated Washington in five games and New Jersey in five games. The Hurricanes dominated the Capitals and Devils to start the postseason, but they haven’t found an answer for this Florida team through two games. Carolina has scored 3.24 goals per game and they have allowed 2.81 goals against per game, while also going 18.7% on the power play and 83.6% on the penalty kill this season. Seth Jarvis has led Carolina with four goals, eight assists, and 30 shots on goal, while Sebastian Aho has added four goals, seven assists, and 29 shots on goal. Frederik Andersen is 7-4 with a 2.01 goals against average and a .907 save percentage in the postseason.

Florida Panthers Betting Preview

The Florida Panthers are up 2-0 in the series after they won games one and two by scores of 5-2 and 5-0. In their game two win, Florida scored three goals in the first period and they were able to coast to an easy victory in the second and third periods. The Panthers recorded 21 shots on goal, won 48.1% of the face-offs, and went 2-2 on the power play in the game. Florida got goals from Barkov, Bennett (2), Tkachuk, and Forsling, while Bobrovsky stopped all 17 shots that he faced in the shutout win.

Prior to this series, the Panthers defeated the Lightning in five games in the first round and the Maple Leafs in seven games in the second round. Florida had very little problem getting by Tampa Bay to start the postseason, but Toronto gave them a very good test, before Florida won game seven in a blowout. Florida has scored 3.00 goals per game and they have allowed 2.72 goals against per game, while also going 23.5% on the power play and 80.7% on the penalty kill this season. Carter Verhaeghe, Eetu Luostarinen, and Sam Bennett have led Florida in the postseason with 13 points, while Marchand, Barkov, and Tkachuk have added 12 points each. Sergei Bobrovsky is 10-4 with a 2.13 goals against average and a .910 save percentage in the playoffs.

Hurricanes vs Panthers Prediction

Florida has absolutely dominated the first two games in this series on the road and they will return home looking to go up 3-0 with a win here. The Panthers played very well on home ice this season, but they did lose game three against TB at home and game six against Toronto at home. Carolina hasn’t been competitive in the series, but I would expect a strong push from them here, as this is very close to a must win game. It may seem crazy to go against Florida in this spot, but I think Carolina has a ton of value at this price, especially with how they typically play defense. Take the Hurricanes here.
