In this article we will formulate a Hurricanes vs Devils prediction for this NHL game on Friday, April 25th at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL matchup in the 1st round of the playoffs.

Carolina Hurricanes Betting Preview

The Carolina Hurricanes are up 2-0 in the series after winning games one and two by scores of 4-1 and 3-1. In that game two win, the Hurricanes trailed 1-0 after the first period, but they scored the last three goals, including a shorthanded goal, for the win. Carolina recorded 28 shots on goal, won 49.1% of the face-offs, and went 0-3 on the power play in the game. Carolina got goals from Jarvis, Martinook, and Gostisbehere, while Andersen stopped 25 out of 26 shots in the game.

Prior to this series, the Hurricanes lost to the Senators by a score of 7-5 and the Canadiens by a score of 4-2. Carolina has lost three of their last five games and they finished second in the Metro standings with 99 points. Carolina has scored 3.24 goals per game and they have allowed 2.81 goals against per game, while also going 18.7% on the power play and 83.6% on the penalty kill this season. Jordan Martinook has led Carolina with one goal, two assists, and eight shots on goal this postseason, while Hall and Stankoven have added two points each. Frederik Andersen is 2-0-0 with a 1.00 goals against average and a .960 save percentage this series.

New Jersey Devils Betting Preview

The New Jersey Devils are down 0-2 in this series and they need to get a win here. In their game two loss, New Jersey led 1-0 after one period, but they allowed two quick goals in the second and couldn’t find anymore offense in the loss. The Devils recorded 26 shots on goal, won 50.9% of the face-offs, and went 0-3 on the power play in the game. New Jersey got their lone goal from Bratt, while Markstrom stopped 25 out of 27 shots in the loss.

Hurricanes vs Devils Prediction

New Jersey comes into this matchup with their backs against a wall and they desperately need a win to stay competitive in the series. The Devils aren’t great on home ice, but Carolina has really struggled on the road, as they are just 16-21-4 away from home this year. New Jersey did show some life in game two, but they need to find more offense. I expect to see a very energetic start from New Jersey in this game and I do think they will get the win, but their special teams need to be much improved. Take the Devils in a desperate spot here.
