Carolina Hurricanes Betting Preview

The Carolina Hurricanes are 29-15-4 this year after they defeated Florida by a score of 9-1 in their last game. Carolina was tied at one in the second period, but they scored the last eight goals in the blowout win. The Hurricanes out shot Florida by a total of 35-16, won 65.5% of the face-offs, and went 4-5 on the power play in the game. Carolina got goals from Ehlers (3), Hall (2), Jankowski, Robinson, Svechnikov, and Nikishin, while Bussi stopped 15 out of 16 shots, which was a .938 save percentage.

Prior to that game, Carolina lost to the Blues by a score of 3-0 and the Red Wings by a score of 4-3. The Hurricanes have lost two of their last three games and they are currently first in the Metro standings with 62 points. Carolina has scored 3.28 goals per game and they have allowed 2.98 goals against per game, while also going 19.6% on the power play and 78.9% on the penalty kill this season. Sebastian Aho has led Carolina with 17 goals and 28 assists, while Andrei Svechnikov has added 12 goals and 23 assists. The projected starting goalie for Carolina is Brandon Bussi, who is 16-3-1 with a 2.31 goals against average and a .904 save percentage this year.

New Jersey Devils Betting Preview

The New Jersey Devils are 24-21-2 this season after they defeated Seattle in overtime by a score of 3-2 in their last game. New Jersey led 1-0 and 2-1, but they couldn’t hold either lead, before winning late in overtime. The Devils out shot Seattle by a total of 26-17, won 53.2% of the face-offs, and went 1-2 on the power play in the game. New Jersey got goals from Glass and Hischier (2), while Markstrom stopped 15 out of 17 shots, which was an .882 save percentage.

Hurricanes vs Devils Prediction

New Jersey comes into this matchup looking for their third win in a row, but they are scoring just 2.62 goals per game this season. The Devils are 12-8-2 at home this year, while the Hurricanes are 12-7-3 on the road. Carolina has struggled in two of their last three games, but they are still a very strong defensive team. The Hurricanes will be on a back to back after playing on Friday night and I think New Jersey has some solid momentum, so I will back the Devils to get the win at home.
