Edmonton Oilers Betting Preview

The Edmonton Oilers are 34-17-4 this year after they lost to Colorado by a score of 5-4 in their last game. Edmonton trailed 4-2 in the second period, but they were able to erase that deficit, before allowing the game-winning goal late in the third. The Oilers were outshot by a total of 31-27, won 47.5% of the face-offs, and went 2-4 on the power play in the game. Edmonton got goals from Draisaitl (2) and Perry (2), while Pickard stopped 17 out of 19 shots in the loss.

Prior to that game, the Oilers defeated the Blackhawks by a score of 4-3 and the Blues by a score of 3-2. Edmonton has lost three of their last five games and they are currently tied for first in the Pacific standings with 72 points. Edmonton has scored 3.31 goals per game and they have allowed 2.75 goals against per game, while also going 25% on the power play and 75.6% on the penalty kill this season. Leon Draisaitl has led Edmonton with 40 goals, 43 assists, and 187 shots on goal, while Connor McDavid has added 22 goals, 49 assists, and 155 shots on goal. Stuart Skinner is 20-12-4 with a 2.74 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage this year.

The Philadelphia Flyers are 24-26-7 this season after they defeated Pittsburgh by a score of 3-2 in their last game. Philadelphia was tied at one in the second period, but they scored the next two goals and were able to hang on for the win in the third. The Flyers were outshot by a total of 33-20, won 60% of the face-offs, and went 0-1 on the power play in the game. Philadelphia got goals from Hathaway, Konecny, and Laughton, while Ersson stopped 31 out of 33 shots in the game.

Edmonton Oilers vs Philadelphia Flyers Prediction

Edmonton comes into this matchup looking to find some momentum to start the second half, as they had some struggles before the break. The Oilers are 16-7-2 on the road this year, while the Flyers are 13-13-1 at home. Philadelphia snapped a lengthy losing streak in their last game, but their goal-scoring has been awful over the last few weeks. Philadelphia has scored two goals or fewer in seven of their last ten games and their defense is allowing over 3.30 goals against per game this year. It does worry me that Edmonton is so far away from home and McDavid could come out sluggish, but I think the Oilers -1.5 is the only way to go.

David Racey's Pick: Oilers -1.5
