In this article we will formulate a Ducks vs Oilers prediction for this NHL game on Tuesday, April 28th at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this NHL playoff matchup.

Anaheim Ducks Betting Preview

The Anaheim Ducks are up 3-1 in this series after they won three of the first four games by scores of 3-4, 6-4, 7-4, and 4-3. In game four, Anaheim trailed 2-0 in the first period, but they tied the game in the second and again in the third, before winning in OT. The Ducks recorded 38 shots on goal, won 53.0% of the face-offs, and went 2-4 on the power play in the game. Anaheim got goals from Gauthier, Granlund, Poehling, and Viel, while Dostal stopped 24 out of 27 shots, which was an .889 save percentage.

Prior to this series, Anaheim defeated the Predators by a score of 5-4, but lost to the Wild by a score of 3-2 before that. The Ducks have won four of their last five games and they finished third in the Pacific standings with 92 points. Anaheim scored 3.23 goals per game and they allowed 3.51 goals against per game, while also going 18.6% on the power play and 76.4% on the penalty kill this season. Cutter Gauthier led Anaheim with 41 goals and 28 assists, while Leo Carlsson added 29 goals and 38 assists. The projected starting goalie for Anaheim is Lukas Dostal, who was 30-20-4 with a 3.10 goals against average and an .888 save percentage this year.

Edmonton Oilers Betting Preview

The Edmonton Oilers are down 1-3 in this series after they lost game four in overtime by a score of 4-3. Edmonton jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and they led 3-2 in the third, but they couldn’t hold on and lost on a funny bounce in OT. The Oilers recorded 27 shots on goal, won 47.0% of the face-offs, and went 2-2 on the power play in the game. Edmonton got goals from Kapanen, Nugent-Hopkins, and Bouchard, while Jarry stopped 34 out of 38 shots, which was an .895 save percentage.

Prior to this series, Edmonton defeated the Canucks by a score of 6-1, but lost to the Avalanche by a score of 2-1 before that. The Oilers have lost five of their last seven games and they finished second in the Pacific standings with 93 points. Edmonton scored 3.44 goals per game and they allowed 3.23 goals against per game, while also going 30.6% on the power play and 77.8% on the penalty kill this season. Connor McDavid led Edmonton with 48 goals and 90 assists, while Evan Bouchard added 21 goals and 74 assists. The projected starting goalie for Edmonton is Connor Ingram, who was 16-10-3 with a 2.60 goals against average and an .899 save percentage for the Oilers this season.

Ducks vs Oilers Prediction

Edmonton comes into this matchup with their backs against the wall facing elimination, but they do have the home ice advantage. The Oilers were 22-14-5 at home this year, while the Ducks were 19-20-2 on the road. Anaheim has won three straight games in this series and they have scored 17 goals during that span, but I think this is a very tall task. I expect Edmonton to play their best game of the series and fight off elimination with a home win. Take the Oilers -1.5 here.

David Racey's Pick: Oilers -1.5
