St. Louis Blues Betting Preview

The St. Louis Blues are 17-18-8 this season after they defeated Montreal by a score of 2-0 in their last game. St. Louis scored once in the first period and once in the second in the shutout win. Prior to that game, St. Louis defeated the Golden Knights by a score of 4-3, but lost to the Avalanche by a score of 6-1 before that. The Blues have split their last four games and they are currently sixth in the Central standings with 42 points. St. Louis has scored 2.49 goals per game and they have allowed 3.35 goals against per game, while also going 17.3% on the power play and 78.4% on the penalty kill this season. The projected starting goalie for St. Louis is Joel Hofer, who is 9-8-2 with a 2.88 goals against average and a .900 save percentage this season.

Chicago Blackhawks Betting Preview

The Chicago Blackhawks are 17-18-7 this year after they defeated Vegas in overtime by a score of 3-2 in their last game. Chicago tied the game at one in the first and at two in the third, before getting the win just 1:18 into overtime. The Blackhawks out shot Vegas by a total of 20-15, won 46.3% of the face-offs, and went 0-2 on the power play in the game. Chicago got all three of their goals from Bertuzzi, while Soderblom stopped 13 out of 15 shots, which was an .867 save percentage.

Blues vs Blackhawks Prediction

Chicago comes into this matchup continuing to play without Bedard, but they have won three in a row against three very good teams. The Blackhawks are 9-8-4 at home this year, while the Blues are 7-9-3 on the road. St. Louis has won two in a row, but they have scored two goals or fewer in three of their last four. Both teams have had trouble scoring this year, but St. Louis isn’t even at 2.50 goals per game. I really don’t like either team in this contest, so I will look at the under with two struggling offenses.

David Racey's Pick: Under 5.5
