Oilers Still Looking for Complete Game

The Edmonton Oilers were able to get a big win in game three by a score of 3-2, which tied the series at two. Edmonton led 2-0 in the third period, but they allowed Vancouver to tie the game late, before scoring the game winning goal with under a minute left. The Oilers have had trouble playing a full 60 minutes in this series, as we saw them blow a 4-1 lead in game one and struggled in parts of every game in the series.

Edmonton won game two by a score of 4-3 and they defeated the LA Kings in the first round in five games. In their first round series, the Oilers won games three, four, and five to win the series. Edmonton is scoring 4.00 goals per game, while going 46.7% on the power play and 87.5% on the penalty kill in the postseason. Leon Draisaitl has led Edmonton with eight goals, 12 assists, and 39 shots on goal, while Connor McDavid has added two goals, 16 assists, and 27 shots.

Canucks are Battling

The Vancouver Canucks are tied at two in this series and they are looking for a big game five win at home here. Vancouver didn’t play very well for most of game four, but they scored two third period goals, before allowing the game winning goal with under a minute left. The Canucks were fortunate to win game one in this series and while it hasn’t been pretty, they are two wins away from the Conference Finals.

Vancouver defeated Nashville in the first round in six games, but they were out played for most of that series. The Canucks have been very good at erasing deficits so far in the playoffs, but they are playing with fire against a high scoring team like Edmonton. Vancouver is scoring 2.70 goals per game, while going 20% on the power play and 78.1% on the penalty kill in the postseason. Brock Boeser has led Vancouver with seven goals, five assists, and 25 shots on goal, while J.T. Miller has added two goals, nine assists, and 21 shots.

Starting Goalies

The projected starting goalie for Vancouver is Arturs Silovs, who is 4-3-0 with a 2.71 goals against average and a .907 save percentage in the postseason. The projected starting goalie for Edmonton is Calvin Pickard, who is 1-0-0 with a 1.57 goals against average and a .917 save percentage in limited action this postseason.

Edmonton Oilers vs Vancouver Canucks Prediction

I really don’t like how Vancouver has played in the postseason so far, but they have made it work and they have a big chance to take a 3-2 lead at home here. Edmonton is still searching for a full game effort, as they have been inconsistent from period to period, but they have the ability to score goals very quickly. The Oilers made the switch to Pickard in net, which is slightly concerning, but I will take the Edmonton offense over Vancouver’s every day of the week. My Edmonton Oilers vs Vancouver Canucks prediction is for the Oilers to get a big road win.
