Canucks Look for More Road Magic
The Vancouver Canucks won the first game in this series by a score of 5-4, overcoming a 4-1 second period deficit, but they couldn’t get the job done in game two. The Canucks led 3-2 in the third period in game two, but they were dominated in the final period and eventually lost in overtime. Vancouver only recorded 19 shots on goal and went 1-3 on the power play in the game two loss.
Vancouver did defeat Nashville in six games to advance to the second round, winning all three road games in the series. The Canucks are scoring 2.63 goals per game, while going 15.8% on the power play and 84.6% on the penalty kill this postseason. J.T. Miller has led Vancouver with two goals, seven assists, and 18 shots on goal, while Brock Boeser has added five goals, three assists, and 18 shots.
Edmonton Looking for Consistent Play
The Edmonton Oilers led 4-1 in the second period of game one, but they played a horrible third period and ended up losing 5-4. In game two, the Oilers didn’t play their best through two periods, but they absolutely worked the Canucks in the third period and won in overtime. Edmonton has only lost twice during this playoff run so far, but they have struggled to play well for a full 60 minutes.
Edmonton defeated the LA Kings in five games in the first round, and they scored at least four goals in four of the five games. The Oilers are scoring 4.29 goals per game, while going 45.8% on the power play and 94.4% on the penalty kill in the playoffs. Connor McDavid has led Edmonton with two goals, 15 assists, and 19 shots on goal, while Leon Draisaitl has added six goals, 10 assists, and 30 shots on goal.
Starting Goalies
The projected starting goalie for Edmonton is Stuart Skinner, who is 5-2-0 this postseason with a 2.97 goals against average and an .888 save percentage. Skinner has been much improved this season, but he has allowed a couple of soft goals early in this series. The projected starting goalie for Vancouver is Arturs Silvos, who is 3-2-0 with a 2.58 goals against average and an .899 save percentage this postseason. The Canucks goaltending situation is interesting, as Demko is nearing a return and DeSmith could also take over in net at any time.

Vancouver Canucks vs Edmonton Oilers Prediction
Edmonton was lucky to find their game in the third period and overtime and steal home ice in game two, after their total collapse in game one, but I think they play a full 60 minutes here. The Oilers were 28-9-4 at home during the regular season, while Vancouver was 23-14-4 on the road. Edmonton is the better team in my opinion and I still don’t like how the Canucks have looked this postseason. Vancouver could have easily lost to the Predators, and they probably should be down 2-0 here. My Vancouver Canucks vs Edmonton Oilers prediction is for Edmonton to win by at least two goals.
