Colorado Looks for Five Straight Wins

The Colorado Avalanche lost game one of their first round series to Winnipeg by a score of 7-6, but they won the next four games to win the series 4-1. Colorado won games two, three, four, and five by scores of 5-2, 6-2, 5-1, and 6-3. The Avalanche scored 28 goals in the five games and their offense looked very impressive. On the flip side, they only allowed eight goals in the last four games of the series and they were able to play very well in the third period.

Colorado finished third in the Central division and they lost seven of their last eleven games to end the regular season, including a loss to the Rangers. The Avalanche are scoring 5.60 goals per game, while going 37.5% on the power play and 76.9% on the penalty kill during the postseason. Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Mikko Rantanen have led Colorado with nine points so far in the playoffs, while Valeri Nichushkin has added seven goals.

Dallas Survived the First Round

The Dallas Stars were able to win game seven against Vegas on Sunday night to advance to the second round. Dallas lost the first two games in the series at home, but they won four of the last five games to barely get by Vegas. The Stars won games three, four, five, and seven by scores of 3-2, 4-2, 3-2, and 2-1. Dallas’ offense was not great in the series, but they only allowed nine goals in the final five games of the series. Dallas did lose games one and two by scores of 4-3 and 3-1 on home ice.

Dallas finished first in the Central division and they won 12 of their last 13 games in the regular season. The Stars are scoring 2.29 goals per game, while going 28.6% on the power play and 75% on the penalty kill in the playoffs. Wyatt Johnston has led Dallas with four goals, three assists, and 27 shots on goal, while Jason Robertson has added three goals in the postseason.

The projected starting goalie for Dallas is Jake Oettinger, who is 4-3-0 with a 1.95 goals against average and a .925 save percentage. Oettinger was very solid in the first round and he had a 2.72 goals against average and a .905 save percentage during the regular season. Colorado Avalanche vs Dallas Stars Prediction

Colorado comes into this series looking very good after dominating the Winnipeg Jets in the first round, but they will be on the road for this game. Colorado was not their best on the road during the regular season, going just 19-16-6, while Dallas was 26-11-4 at home. The Stars had a tough time getting by Vegas, but that Vegas team was much better than the one we saw in the regular season. Colorado is clicking on all cylinders when it comes to offense and even though Dallas is a strong defensive team, I don’t see them stopping Colorado. I think we see plenty of goals in this game and my Colorado Avalanche vs Dallas Stars prediction is for this game to go over the total.
