The Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Blackhawks face off on Friday in an NHL showdown at the United Center. Make sure to read our Maple Leafs vs Blackhawks Prediction.

Blackhawks Need to Figure Out Their Defense

The Blackhawks need to figure out their defense soon or this season is going to get worse than it already is. On Wednesday the Blackhawks faced off against the Columbus Blue Jackets and they gave up seven goals on the way to the defeat. Jason Dickinson scored a goal and had two shots on goal. The Blackhawks are averaging only 2.53 goals while thier defense is giving up 3.71 goals per game. It’s going to be another torque battle but it’s going to need to be the defense that steps up.

Blackhawks Betting Trends

  • The Blackhawks have lost 11 of their last 12 home games.
  • The underdogs have covered the puck line in each of the last six games between the Maple Leafs and Blackhawks at United Center.
  • The Blackhawks have lost the third period in each of their last six games as home underdogs.
  • The 'Over 1.5 Goals Period 1' market has hit in each of the Blackhawks' last eight home games against the Maple Leafs.

Maple Leafs Look for Fifth Straight Win

The Maple Leafs have won four games in a row and the offense has been very good. In four of the games they have scored at least four goals. Last Sunday it took overtime, but they secured the 4-3 victory against the Minnesota Wild. The Maple Leafs on the season are averaging 3.53 goals while their defense is giving up 3.41 goals per game. The defense hasn’t been exactly elite, but the offense has been, and that offense is going to need to be good again here.

Maple Leafs Betting Trends

  • The Maple Leafs have won each of their last four games.
  • The underdogs have covered the puck line in 10 of the Maple Leafs' last 11 games.
  • The Maple Leafs have lost the third period in five of their last six games as favorites against opponents on a losing streak.
  • The 'Over 1.5 Goals Period 1' market has hit in 10 of the Maple Leafs' last 11 games as favorites against the Blackhawks.

Shane’s Free Pick

It’s a very good offense in Toronto against a defense that isn’t very good in Chicago. Look for the Maple Leafs to have no issue running up the score. It’s going to be poor goaltending again and the Maple Leafs are going to score at least four goals off of them. The Blackhawks are going to drop another road game here, and the Maple Leafs will go home happy. Back the Maple Leafs.
