The Carolina Hurricanes will play the Florida Panthers in Game 3 of their series on Monday night at FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida.
Hurricanes Preview
The Carolina Hurricanes lost Games 1 and 2 at home in overtime and they are in big trouble heading into this game. Carolina played very well in regulation in the first two games in the series, but they could only manage to score three goals against Bobrovsky. Carolina recorded 38 shots on goal and went 0-3 on the power play in the Game 2 loss. Sebastian Aho has led the Hurricanes this postseason with five goals, seven assists, and 32 shots on goal, while Seth Jarvis has added five goals, five assists, and 33 shots. The starting goalie for Carolina has not been announced yet, but Frederik Andersen and Antti Raanta have been very good this year. Andersen started Game 1 and Raanta started Game 2 of this series.
Panthers Preview
The Florida Panthers will look to take a commanding 3-0 series lead in this game and they will have the home ice advantage. Florida was able to win both games in Carolina, despite being out shot in both games. Florida has played very well defensively and they have had great goaltending by Bobrovsky. Florida recorded 26 shots on goal and went 1-3 on the power play in Game 2. Matthew Tkachuk has led the Panthers this postseason with seven goals, 11 assists, and 42 shots, while Carter Verhaeghe has added six goals, eight assists, and 37 shots on goal. Sergei Bobrovsky is 9-2 this postseason with a 2.32 goals against average and a .931 save percentage for Florida.
Trends
Carolina is 9-3 in their last 12 Monday games and 1-11 in their last 12 Conference Final games. The over is 5-1 in Carolina’s last 6 road games. Florida is 9-1 in their last 10 games and 31-15 in their last 46 Monday games. The under is 7-0 in Florida’s last 7 games. The under is 5-1 in these two teams last 6 head to head meetings.
Pick
Carolina should come out very desperate in this game as they need to avoid going down 3-0 in the series. The Hurricanes have played well in the first two games in the series, but they need to figure out how to get more pucks past Bobrovsky. I think Carolina will play well again in this game and I do think they find a way to get a road win to keep this series close. Take the Hurricanes here.
