It’s a very light slate of games across the NHL on Wednesday with only two games taking place but there is still plenty of value across the board with these two teams. Let’s take a look at a free winner with each of the two games.
Edmonton Oilers at Toronto Maple Leafs
These are two teams who can both score, but the big difference has been with the defense. The Maple Leafs are giving up 2.42 goals per game while the Oilers are giving up 3.24 goals per game. The last few years the Maple Leafs defense has been an issue, but that isn’t the case this year. I expect the Maple Leafs are going to lock down the Oilers and that is going to be the difference in this game. Back the Maple Leafs on the money line. In terms of the total, the Maple Leafs are going to play enough defense for the under to cash.
Play: Maples Leafs ML
St. Louis Blues +120 at Pittsburgh Penguins -141 Total: 6
This total really should be sitting at 5.5 and with the total at six, there is plenty of value with the under. The Penguins are giving up only 2.48 goals per game and their defense is going to lock down in this game against the Blues. The Blues defense hasn’t been as good, but they are giving up only 2.70 goals per game. I expect both offenses are going to struggle in this game, and the under is going to cash. I also don't trust this Penguins team, even though they are at home, and there is some value with the Blues being underdogs. The strong play is with the total, but the Blues still do offer a bit of value just because of their price.
