We have 10 games on the schedule for Thursday, December 16th, 2021 in the NHL. Let's take a look at each game and make some picks as well.
Los Angeles Kings +170 Florida Panthers -200 Total: 6
I think we see a similar game here as we saw when the Kings took on the Lightning the other night. The Panthers are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Senators on home ice last time out, and I do expect the Cats to win this game in OT so I will take the Kings and the +1.5.
Pick: Los Angeles Kings +1.5
Vegas Golden Knights -175 New Jersey Devils +150 Total: 5.5
The Devils are missing some key players and it showed in its last ugly loss to the Flyers. I think the Knights have their way here and earn an important road victory, so I will take VGK on the money line.
Pick: Vegas Golden Knights -175
Detroit Red Wings +165 Carolina Hurricanes -200 Total: 5.5
The Red Wings are also missing some key players due to COVID-19, and I think the Hurricanes take advantage and earn a comfortable home victory. I'll take the Canes on the puck line as I see a 2-3 goal victory.
Pick: Carolina Hurricanes -1.5
Philadelphia Flyers -140 Montreal Canadiens +120 Total: 5.5
I think we see plenty of goals between two of the worst defensive teams in the league. I know the Habs have not been great offensively either, but the Flyers have struggled to stop anyone this season and goals should be plentiful.
Pick: Over 5.5
Ottawa Senators +215 Tampa Bay Lightning -260 Total: 6
The Bolts are looking for revenge here as the Sens shut them out in Ottawa a few days back. The Lightning are strong at Amalie Arena and should have no problem taking out a Senators team that has been inconsistent this season.
Pick: Tampa Bay Lightning -1.5
Boston Bruins -135 New York Islanders +110 Total: 5.5
I don't care how many players the Bruins are without for this one, the Islanders do not have Mat Barzal and it showed in Detroit the other night. I think the Islanders have problems on both sides of the puck, yet those issues are not being addressed by management. That's a discussion for another time, give me the Bruins.
Pick: Boston Bruins -135
Colorado Avalanche -145 Nashville Predators +125 Total: 6
After a sluggish start to the season, the Avs are starting to look like the Stanley Cup contenders that everyone thought of them as before the season. The Predators are playing good hockey but I cannot pass up this price with one of the best teams in the league right now.
Pick: Colorado Avalanche -145
Buffalo Sabres +250 Minnesota Wild -320 Total: 5.5
The Sabres got the road win in Winnipeg on Tuesday, but I think the buck stops here and the Wild win this game easily. The Sabres' goaltending situation is still concerning and I think the Wild are too much for Buffalo, especially in Minnesota.
Pick: Minnesota Wild -1.5
Columbus Blue Jackets +170 Edmonton Oilers -200 Total: 6
We saw the Blue Jackets blow a three-goal lead in Vancouver the other night and I see more goals scored in this game as well. The Oilers are starting to slide but I expect the offense to wake up here and the defense has not been strong all season. I like the over.
Pick: Over 6
Vancouver Canucks +115 San Jose Sharks -135 Total: 5.5
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The Canucks are 5-0 in their first five games with Bruce Boudreau behind the bench and Vancouver is playing with a ton of confidence heading into this one. Giving me plus money almost seems too good to be true, but I will take the bait.
Pick: Vancouver Canucks +115
