NHL Picks and Predictions for 12/9/21 Free NHL Picks

Anaheim Ducks -115 Columbus Blue Jackets -105 Total: 6

The Ducks are known for having a strong offense led by young talent but expect a team that focuses on defense in the Blue Jackets, I think goals are hard to come by. I think we see a similar result Anaheim had with Buffalo a few nights ago. 

Pick: Under 6

Tampa Bay Lightning +110 Toronto Maple Leafs -130 Total: 6

This should be a great game between two contenders in the Eastern Conference. I give the edge to Toronto, but I do deny how well the Bolts are playing even without some big names in the lineup.

Nashville Predators -105 New York Islanders -115 Total: 5.5

Because of the Isles’ recent struggles, we are going to get feasible prices like these for a little while. I say we take advantage and take the better team at home looking for its first win in the new barn. 

Pick: New York Islanders -115

Detroit Red Wings +150 St. Louis Blues -175 Total: 6

I will gladly take a shot with the Red Wings here as I am still not convinced by the Blues this season and I think the Wings are a team on the rise. They may be one year short in terms of being a playoff team, but the Red Wings have been profitable in similar spots this season. 

Pick: Detroit Red Wings +150

Boston Bruins +105 Edmonton Oilers -125 Total: 6

The Bruins have yet to play the way we expected them to this season but I think this is a good spot for the B’s facing an Oilers’ team that is struggling a bit. I will take the plus money with Boston.

Carolina Hurricanes +105 Calgary Flames -125 Total: 5.5

I will take the plus money with the Canes here as Carolina is certainly capable of winning this game on the road. The Flames’ hot start has cooled off a bit (no pun intended), but I do expect Calgary to be a playoff team in the end. 

Pick: Carolina Hurricanes +105

Winnipeg Jets -115 Seattle Kraken -105 Total: 6

This should be an entertaining game and I do expect plenty of goals. As far as a side, I will lean towards the Jets as even though I don’t love taking Winnipeg on the road, the Jets are just a tad more reliable in my opinion. 

Pick: Winnipeg Jets -115

Dallas Stars -135 Los Angeles Kings +115 Total: 5.5

With Dallas off a back-to-back and playing three games in four nights, I like the under as the Stars’ defense has been strong and I think they will look to make this a boring game. Goals should be hard to come by in LA. 

Pick: Under 5.5

Minnesota Wild -145 San Jose Sharks +125 Total: 6

I will take a shot with the Sharks at plus money because this team has played well as an underdog as of late and I think this is a spot that favors them at home. Minnesota’s seven-game win streak is in jeopardy in my opinion.
