It’s a full slate of NHL games on Wednesday with 14 games taking place. Let’s take a look at a free pick on each of the games to make your night a profitable one.
Boston Bruins -238 at Buffalo Sabres +204 Total: 5.5
This is a great game for the Buffalo Sabres to pull the upset. These two teams have very similar offenses, and the only difference has been the Sabres defense. In this game the Sabres are going to find enough offensive success, and the underdog is going to pull the upset. Back the Sabres on the money line.
Play: Sabres ML +204
Philadelphia Flyers +140 at Florida Panthers -161 Total: 6.5
The Florida Panthers are the better team, and they are going to have no issues getting the job done in this game. The Panthers are averaging 3.94 goals per game and their offense is going to run up the score against the Flyers defense. Back the Panthers on the puck line.
Play: Panthers -1.5
Minnesota Wild -130 at New Jersey Devils +110 Total: 6
The Minnesota Wild have gotten out to quite the start on the season, and this is a team that could compete for a Stanley Cup. In the last game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, they made a late comeback to grab a point. The offense has been elite averaging 3.5 goals per game and they are going to get the job done.
Play: Wild ML -130
Vancouver Canucks +173 at Pittsburgh Penguins -208 Total: 5.5
The Vancouver Canucks and Pittsburgh Penguins have both been disappointing this season. The biggest issue for both these teams has been the offense, especially for the Canucks. Vancouver is averaging 2.39 goals per game and the lack of scoring is going to keep this game under the total. Back the under.
Play: Under 5.5
Montreal Canadiens +170 at Washington Capitals -200 Total: 6
The Washington Capitals might win this game by three or four goals. Montreal is averaging 2.2 goals per game which is 29th in all of the NHL. In this game, I expect the Capitals are going to run up the score and win four or five goals, and this one will get out of hand early. Back the Capitals on the puck line.
Play: Capitals -1.5
Winnipeg Jets -130 at Columbus Blue Jackets +110 Total: 5.5
The Winnipeg Jets are a strong offensive team, but more impressive has been their defense. The Jets are giving up only 2.56 goals per game which is 6th best in the NHL. Even though Columbus has a good offense, the Jets are going to have more success. Back the Jets on the money line.
Play: Jets ML -130
New York Rangers -115 at New York Islanders -105 Total: 5.5
After so much success last year, the Islanders have been nothing more than a disappointment. The Islanders are a terrible offensive team averaging only 2.07 goals per game which is 31st in the NHL. The Islanders defense isn’t as good as last season, and the Rangers will get the job done.
Play: Rangers ML -115
St. Louis Blues -135 at Detroit Red Wings +115 Total: 5.5
The St. Louis Blues are the much better team and they are going to get the job done on the puck line. The Blues are averaging 3.33 goals per game which is 8th best in the NHL. The Red Wings offense isn’t going to keep up, the visiting team will win on the puck line.
Play: Blues -1.5
Vegas Golden Knights +105 at Nashville Predators -125 Total: 5.5
This is an interesting matchup. Vegas has a better offense and a worse defense while Nashville has a better defense, but the offense has had some issues. The under is 7-0 in the Predators last seven home games, and they will have strong defense again in this game. Back the under to cash..
Anaheim Ducks +185 at Colorado Avalanche -225 Total: 5.5
The Avs are an elite offensive team, but they struggle to play any type of defense. The Avs are giving up 3.26 goals per game, and there will be no shortage of scoring in this game by either team. Back the over.
Edmonton Oilers -220 at Arizona Coyotes +180 Total: 6
I don’t love the -220 with the Oilers, but there is no way to lay money with the Arizona Coyotes. The Oilers are averaging 3.88 goals per game, and they are going to run up the score against the Coyotes. Back the Oilers on the money line.
Play: Oilers ML
Toronto Maple Leafs -160 at Los Angeles Kings +140 Total: 5.5
The Maple Leafs and Kings are both going to struggle to score in this game. The Maple Leafs are averaging 2.55 goals per game while their defense is giving up 2.55 goals per game. They are also ranked in the top six each in terms of goals given up per game. Back the under.
Carolina Hurricanes -141 at Seattle Kraken +125 Total: 5.5
The Carolina Hurricanes are the much better team and the Kraken are going through those expansion team struggles. Seattle is giving up 3.78 goals per game which is 32nd in the NHL. The Hurricanes are averaging 3.53 goals per game, and they are going to win this game in blowout fashion. Back the Hurricanes on the puck line.
Play: Hurricanes -1.5
Ottawa Senators +150 at San Jose Sharks -169 Total: 5.5
The Ottawa Senators are expected to have Matt Murray in net, and he has lost six games in a row. The Senators haven’t given him a ton of scoring support, and the Sharks will get the job done. Back the Sharks on the money line.
Play: Sharks -169
