It’s a lighter slate of NHL games on Monday with six games taking place but there is still value across the board. Let’s take a look at a free pick on each of the games.
Columbus Blue Jackets -115 at Buffalo Sabres -105 Total: 5.5
The Blue Jackets and Sabres are two defenses that aren’t great. The Blue Jackets are giving up 3.1 goals per game while the Sabres are giving up 3.06 goals per game. I expect both the Sabres and Blue Jackets defense is going to have issues in this game, and the over will cash.
Play: Over 5.5
Vegas Golden Knights +115 at St. Louis Blues -149 Total: 5.5
The Blues got out to a fast start to the season, but they haven’t been as strong as of late. Two of the last three games, the Blues have lost, and the offense was an issue in each of those two games. The Blues offense isn’t going to get any better in this game, and the Golden Knights will come away with the win.
Play: Vegas ML +115
Anaheim Ducks +130 at Nashville Predators -149 Total: 5.5
Monday might be the night of road victories. The Ducks are better on both sides of the puck, but especially with their defense that is giving up only 2.61 goals per game. Nashville is averaging only 2.71 goals per game, and the Ducks will find a way to get the job done. Back the Ducks on the money line.
Play: Ducks ML +130
Pittsburgh Penguins -104 at Winnipeg Jets -116 Total: 5.5
The Winnipeg Jets are being disrespected with this number. The Jets are the better team in this matchup, and they are the home team. Winnipeg’s defense has been strong giving up only 2.52 goals per game. The lack of scoring by the Penguins will lead to the Jets winning this game on the money line.
Play: Jets ML -116
Ottawa Senators +268 at Anaheim Ducks -323 Total: 6
There is no value either way on the side of this game, so we will look at the total. The Avs are averaging 3.79 goals per game while Ottawa is giving up 3.47 goals per game. The Avs defense also isn’t great giving up 3.14 goals per game. I expect both offenses to find success and the over will cash.
Carolina Hurricanes -148 at San Jose Sharks +130 Total: 5.5
Even on the road the Hurricanes are going to have no issues getting the job done. All the Hurricanes do is win games, and in the last game against the Los Angeles Kings, the Hurricanes won 5-4. The Sharks defense is going to struggle and the Hurricanes will come away with a win on the money line.
Play: Hurricanes ML
