There are 11 games scheduled in the NHL for Thursday, November 11th, 2021. With 22 teams in action, let's take a look at each matchup and make some picks.
Edmonton Oilers +110 Boston Bruins -135 Total: 6.5
This should be a great matchup between two serious contenders this season. It's offense vs. defense and I like the Bruins at home here. Boston's record may only be 6-4-0 but the defense has been stellar and Edmonton's bottom six should struggle.
Pick: Boston Bruins -135
Florida Panthers -120 Pittsburgh Penguins +100 Total: 6
This is a revenge spot for the Penguins after losing to these Panthers in overtime earlier in the year. I think the Panthers bounce back after being embarrassed by the Devils on Tuesday night. Florida's offense should be too much for the Pens here.
Pick: Florida Panthers -120
New York Islanders -140 New Jersey Devils +120 Total: 5.5
The Islanders have quietly put together a pretty strong road trip thus far at 5-3-2. New York is its best in low-scoring games and I think we see another Barry Trotz under in Newark against a big division rival.
Pick: Under 5.5
Los Angeles Kings -110 Ottawa Senators -110 Total: 5.5
This is a coin flip game for me, and that is represented in the -110 price for each team. I will take the Kings in a lean because LA has plainly been playing the better hockey.
Pick: Los Angeles Kings -110
Calgary Flames -140 Montreal Canadiens +115 Total: 5.5
The Flames have been really strong in their own end and I think the Habs struggle to find the back of the net in this one. I think this game will be low-scoring from both sides, so I will side with the under in this contest.
Pick: Under 5.5
Washington Capitals -135 Detroit Red Wings +115 Total: 6
I have not liked the look of the Capitals' defense and although Ovechkin has been red hot, I think the Wings earn another win over the Caps just as they did at the Verizon Center earlier in the season.
Pick: Detroit Red Wings +115
Nashville Predators +145 St. Louis Blues -170 Total: 5.5
I am taking the Preds here based on value alone. I know Nashville will be in its second game of a back-to-back, but this game is a lot more competitive than the oddsmakers shape it up to be.
Pick: Nashville Predators +145
San Jose Sharks +150 Winnipeg Jets -175 Total: 5.5
The Jets are looking for some revenge after losing to these Sharks twice this season. I think Winnipeg gets that revenge in a blowout victory at home. The Jets have underwhelmed at times this season, but I expect a strong showing at home.
Pick: Winnipeg Jets -1.5
Vancouver Canucks +160 Colorado Avalanche -190 Total: 5.5
The Canucks may be catching the Avalanche at the right time, but I still think Colorado is a contender and should bounce back from its poor performances against Columbus. A rested Avs team gets a big win in front of the home crowd on Thursday.
Pick: Colorado Avalanche -1.5
Minnesota Wild -105 Vegas Golden Knights -115 Total: 5.5
I think Vegas takes advantage of a winded Wild team in this matchup. Vegas hasn't been great in its own end, but I think the offense does enough to find a victory here.
Pick: Vegas Golden Knights -115
Anaheim Ducks +140 Seattle Kraken -165 Total: 5.5
I don't even understand why the Kraken are this steep of favorites, even at home. The Ducks have been the far better team this season and it looks like their young core may be developing faster than we thought. I will take the plus money with Anaheim here.
Pick: Anaheim Ducks +140
