It’s a nice slate across the NHL on Saturday with 10 games taking place. Let’s take a look at each of the games and give you a free winning play.
New York Islanders -120 at Nashville Predators +100 Total: 5.5
The Islanders and Predators are both going to play some strong defense. The Islanders are averaging only 2.5 goals per game while the Predators are averaging 2.857 goals per game. The Islanders are also giving up only goals per game. Look for few quality scoring chances for both teams, and for the under to cash.
Play: Under 5.5
Montreal Canadiens -101 at Los Angeles Kings -120 Total: 5.5
The Canadiens and Kings have both struggled to win games this season. The good news for the Canadiens though, is they look to be finally turning the corner after an impressive 4-0 win over the Sharks on Thursday. The Canadiens offense will break through again against the Kings, and come away with the victory.
Play: Canadiens ML -101
Winnipeg Jets -110 at San Jose Sharks -110 Total: 6
The Winnipeg Jets don’t have a whole lot of interest in playing defense, but they do score plenty. The Jets are averaging 3.857 goals while the defense is giving up 3.43 goals per game. The Jets play a fast paced game and there will be plenty of scoring chances by both teams. Back the over.
Play: Over 6
Florida Panthers +105 at Boston Bruins -125 Total: 6
The Florida Panthers have had quite the start to their season, but they are playing on the second night of a back to back and the tired legs are going to hurt them. The Bruins are 2-0 at home and the defense has been the reason why. Look for the Bruins to get the job done on the money line.
Play: Bruins ML -125
Detroit Red Wings +210 at Toronto Maple Leafs -250 Total: 6
The Maple Leafs stats don’t look great, but they get a ton of scoring chances a game, and now face a Red Wings team on the second night of a back to back. I don’t love the price that needs to be laid, but the play is with the Maple Leafs on the puck line.
Play: Maple Leafs -1.5
New Jersey Devils +130 at Pittsburgh Penguins -149 Total: 6
The Pittsburgh Penguins have dealt with plenty of injuries, but they will still get the job done in this game. The Devils offense has had issues this season averaging only 2.8 goals per game, and they will struggle again in this game. The Devils gave up five goals in the last game to the Flames, and the Penguins will get the job done in this one.
Play: Penguins ML -149
Chicago Blackhawks +150 at St. Louis Blues -175 Total: 6
I expect this number to move towards the St. Louis Blues before the puck drops. This Chicago Blackhawks team is awful, ranked 28th with their offense and 31st with their defense. The Blues are averaging 4.68 goals per game, and the Blues are going to have no issue cruising to a victory. Back the Blues on the puck line.
Play: Blues -1.5
Minnesota Wild +140 at Colorado Avalanche -161 Total: 6
The Wild lost their last game with Cam Talbot in net, before that he had won six games in a row. The Avs might be one of the best teams in hockey, but they have struggled a bit to start the season. Talbot is going to have a big game giving up only a goal or two, ad that will lead to the Wild pulling the upset.
Play: Wild ML +140
Philadelphia Flyers +131 at Calgary Flames -157 Total: 6
The Flyers and Flames both have elite offenses. The Flyers are averaging 4.2 goals while the Flames are averaging 3.57 goals per game. Although both of these defenses are pretty good also, I expect it will be the offense that is the difference in this game. Back the over to cash.
Play: Over
Edmonton Oilers -141 at Vancouver Canucks +125 Total: 6.5
The Oilers being only -141 is a gift. Edmonton is averaging 4.33 goals per game, and the Canucks just don’t have enough offense to keep this game close. Look for the Oilers to put up three or four goals, and they will win this game on the money line.
Play: Oilers ML -141
