It’s a loaded slate of games across the NHL and that means plenty of free pick winners. Let’s take a look at a free NHL pick on each of the games. 

New York Rangers -149 at Ottawa Senators +130 Total: 5.5

These are two teams who don’t score a ton of goals but also don’t give up many goals. The Rangers are averaging 2.2 goals while giving up 2.2 goals. The Senators are averaging two goals while the defense is giving up 2.25 goals per game. Look for a defensive battle that stays under the total.

Play: Under 5.5 

Calgary Flames +130 at Washington Capitals -149 Total: 6

The Capitals have gotten out to a fast start because of their offense averaging four goals per game. Their defense has also been elite giving up only 1.75 goals per game. Calgary is averaging almost 40 shots per game but not a ton have been going in the back of the net. Look for the Flames to struggle to score again, and for the under to cash. 

Play: Capitals ML -149

Anaheim Ducks +225 at Minnesota Wild -256 Total: 5.5

The Ducks and Wild have already faced out once this year, and it was the Wild that came away with the 2-1 victory. Besides the last game, the Wild’s defense has been good for most of the part this season, and goals are going to be hard to come by in this game. Look for a low-scoring game that stays under. 

Play: Under 5.5 

Nashville Predators +105 at Winnipeg Jets -125 Total: 5.5

This is a great chance for the Predators to pull the upset. Nashville’s offense hasn’t been great this season, but their defense has been good giving up only 2.7 goals per game. The Jets are giving up 3.8 goals per game and the Predators will take advantage. Back the Predators.

Detroit Red Wings +127 at Montreal Canadiens -143 Total: 5.5 

The Montreal Canadiens shouldn’t be favored against any team at this point of the season, The Canadiens are averaging only 0.8 goals per game, and even against the Red Wings they aren’t going to magically start scoring. Back the Red Wings to pull the upset. 

Play: Red Wings ML +127

Colorado Avalanche -105 at Tampa Bay Lightning -115 Total 6

The Avalanche and Lightning have both struggled to play defense so far this season. Colorado is giving up 4.3 goals per game while Tampa Bay is giving up 4.3 goals per game. Look for both defenses to really struggle, and for the over to cash.

Play: Over 6

Buffalo Sabres +155 at New Jersey Devils -175 Total: 6.5

The Sabres have been one of the biggest surprises so far this season, and there is no reason to believe they won’t continue the success in this game. TheSabres are giving up only 1.33 goals per game,and they will continue to lock down in this game. Back the Sabres on the money line. 

Play: Sabres ML +155

Florida Panthers -135 at Philadelphia Flyers +115 Total: 6.5

The Panthers and Flyers are two of the top-ranked offenses in hockey so far this season. Florida is averaging 4.5 goals while the Flyers are giving up 5.33 goals per game. Look for both offenses to struggle to run up the score, and for the over to cash.

Toronto Maple Leafs  -130 at Pittsburgh Penguins +110 Total: 6.5

The Maple Leafs have been winning their games because of the defense while the Penguins have been winning games of the offenses. On Friday, the Leafs defense did show some holes though, and the Penguins are going to get the job done. The Penguins will score three or four runs, and Pittsburgh will win.

Carolina Hurricanes -149 at Columbus Blue Jackets +130 Total: 5.5

The Hurricanes have gotten out to a hot start, but so have the Blue Jackets. These two teams are very even on paper, and with the Blue Jackets at home, they are going to use that to their advantage. Back the Blue Jackets on the money line.

Play: Blue Jackets ML +130

Los Angeles Kings +150 at St. Louis Blues -169 Total: 5.5

The Blues are the more talented offense, and the Kings don’t have the scorers to keep this game close. Look for the Blues to get out to a fast start, and they will win this game by at least a couple of goals. Back the Blues on the puck line.

Play: Blues -1.5

New York Islanders -179 at Arizona Coyotes +160 Total: 5.5

The Islanders and Coyotes have both really struggled to start this season. The biggest issue for both of these teams have been with the offense. The Islanders offense has been a little better though and they get to face off with a Coyotes defense that has been awful. Back the Islanders on the money line.

Vancouver Canucks -105 at Seattle Kraken -115 Total 6

The Canucks and Kraken have both struggled to start the season. Vancouver is averaging 2.6 goals per game while Seattle is averaging 2.2 goals per game. These are two offenses who are both going to struggle to get the job done, Back the under
