NHL Games on Monday April 26th
The NHL playoffs are just around the corner as we kick off another week of hard-hitting action on Monday, April 26th, 2021 with 8 games on the docket! Here are our free picks for every NHL game on the board as well as the betting odds.
Montreal Canadiens +105 at Calgary Flames -125 O/U: 5.5
6:30 PM EST
Pick: I’m going to side with the Flames at home once again in this one. Anyone who has followed me over the course of the season knows how I feel about the Montreal Canadiens, and that sentiment is that they’re the most overrated and over-respected team by oddsmakers this season. The Habs are starting to cool off and a win for the Flames here would tie Calgary with Montreal for the last playoff spot in the North division. I just think there’s too much at stake for Calgary in this spot at home, so I’ll lay the juice with the Flames in this one.
Vancouver Canucks -125 at Ottawa Senators +105 O/U: 6
7:00 PM EST
Pick: This price feels a bit fishy as the Canucks are the better overall team but Ottawa’s been good at home this season and have pulled off some unlikely wins despite being relegated to spoiler role down the stretch. However, I’m still going to back the Canucks here. Vancouver is going to be in tough with some makeup games in the coming days, so the Canucks need to take advantage of softer schedule spots like these when they can. I think we see a sense of urgency here from Vancouver that we didn’t see in the last game, so give me Vancouver here.
Colorado Avalanche -161 at St. Louis Blues +140 O/U: 6
7:00 PM EST
Pick: It’s a thicker line than I’d like, but I’m going to lay it and play it with Colorado here. The Blues got a nice win over the Avs in the last matchup, but a blind squirrel is going to find a nut every once in a while and the Blues are bound to win a game at home here and there. Still, the Avs are the far better team playing far better hockey overall and I think they get revenge on the Blues with a win here.
Carolina Hurricanes -125 vs. Dallas Stars +105 O/U: 5.5
7:30 PM EST
Pick: I get the case that can be made for the Dallas Stars here as the Stars appear to be peaking at just the right time with the playoffs around the corner. However, the Detroit Red Wings made life hell for Dallas this past weekend and hile Detroit beat Carolina twice a couple of weeks ago, the bottom line is that the Stars haven’t been as consistent as Carolina has this season. I think there’s a reason that Carolina is favored here. Give me the ‘Canes on the ML in this one.
Florida Panthers -120 at Nashville Predators +100 O/U: 5.5
8:00 PM EST
Pick: I’m going to side with the Predators here. Sure, the Panthers have been the picture of consistency for much of the year with a solid offensive game and good goaltending. The Panthers have also won 4 of the last 5 meetings with Nashville. However, the Predators are in a much more dire situation here, as they’re teetering on the outside looking in in terms of playoff positioning in that division and the Predators need to keep piling up wins if they’re going to get ahead or stay ahead of the Dallas Stars with the playoffs fast approaching. Give me the Nashville Predators on the ML here.
Edmonton Oilers -110 at Winnipeg Jets -110 O/U: 6
9:00 PM EST
Pick: I’m going to back the over here and I’ll tell you why. Both teams are coming off of bad losses in their last game and realistically, both are pretty much in the postseason where they’re currently sitting. This is a big game for momentum though and while the goaltending is more than capable on both sides, I think with so much offensive potency on the ice, we’re lending ourselves to a higher scoring affair here. In a game that I think could finish 4-3 at the very least whichever way you slice it, I’m backing the over.
Anaheim Ducks +135 at Los Angeles Kings -155 O/U: 5.5
10:00 PM EST
Pick: This is going to be a strict value play for me here as I’m backing the Anaheim Ducks. Anaheim has had a tendency to give teams fits on the road this season, going 18-4 on the puck line on the road, with 9 wins and 9 losses by one goal. I think it simply boils down to not wanting to lay this kind of juice with a Kings team when both the Kings and Ducks are going to be on the outside looking in come playoff time. Give me the value and the Ducks here.
Arizona Coyotes -110 vs. San Jose Sharks -110 O/U: 5.5
10:00 PM EST
Pick: I’m going to back the Coyotes here. This line feels a tad bit trappy, but realistically, the Sharks have lost 8 straight and face an Arizona team that is desperate to win games and pick up points to keep themselves in the playoff race. I’ll take the desperate team over the team with nothing to play for any day of the week. Give me Arizona on the ML here.
