The Vegas Golden Knights and the Anaheim Ducks meet in NHL action from the Honda Center on Saturday night.
The Vegas Golden Knights will look to build on their current winning streak after a 5-2 win over San Jose last time out. Mark Stone leads the Golden Knights in scoring with 53 points including 18 goals and a team-high 35 assists while Max Pacioretty has 46 points with a team-high 22 goals, 24 assists and 165 shots on goal. Shea Theodore has 38 points with 32 assists while Jonathan Marchessault, William Karlsson, Alex Tuch and Chandler Stephenson all have double-digit goal and assist tallies as well this season. As a team, Vegas is averaging 3.3 goals on 32.5 shots with an 18.2% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.2 goals on 27.4 shots with an 85.5% success rate killing off penalties this season.
The Anaheim Ducks will look to rebound from a 4-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings in their last matchup. Max Comtois leads the Ducks in scoring with 28 points including a team-high 13 goals with 15 assists while Rickard Rakell has 25 points with a team-high 17 assists. Adam Henrique has 19 points with 11 goals and Cam Fowler has 18 points with 14 assists while Jakob Silfverberg, Ryan Getzlaf and Troy Terry all have 16 points this season. As a team, Anaheim is averaging 2.2 goals on 26.9 shots with a 10.7% success rate on the power play while allowing 3.2 goals on 31.2 shots against with a 78.8% success rate on the PK this season.
Vegas is 13-3 in their last 16 games as a road favorite and 4-0 in their last 4 road games while the under is 15-5-1 in their last 21 Saturday games. Anaheim is 15-39 in their last 54 home games and 5-21 in their last 26 games as a home underdog while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. The road team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
Earlier on in the year, I’d have said that Anaheim has a shot with the plus money or even the +1.5. However, the Ducks are falling out of the race and while Vegas has clinched a playoff spot, they’re still jostling for position and potential home ice throughout the playoffs. The Golden Knights have also carried over their play on the road, so give me the Golden Knights -1.5 here.
Chris’s Pick Vegas -1.5
