The Montreal Canadiens and the Calgary Flames meet in NHL action from the Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday night.
The Montreal Canadiens will look to bounce back from a 4-2 loss to Calgary last time out. Tyler Toffoli leads the Canadiens in scoring with 34 points including a team-high 23 goals along with 11 assists while Jeff Petry has 32 points with 21 assists, sharing the team lead in assists with Jonathan Drouin who has 21 assists of his own. Tomas Tatar and Nick Suzuki each have 19 assists while Josh Anderson has 17 goals as well this season for Montreal. As a team, Montreal is averaging 2.9 goals on 32 shots with a 19% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.8 goals on 28.1 shots with a 77.8% success rate on the PK this season.
The Calgary Flames will look to build on their win over the Canadiens on Friday. Elias Lindholm leads the Flames in scoring with 40 ppoints including 14 goals and a team-high 26 assists while Johnny Gaudreau has 34 points with a team-high 15 goals and 19 assists. As a team, Calgary is averaging 2.8 goals on 29.8 shots with a 19.4% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.9 goals on 28.8 shots with an 80.7% success rate killing off penalties this season.
Montreal is 1-5 in their last 6 games on no rest and 4-10 in their last 14 road games while the under is 5-1-1 in their last 7 games overall. Calgary is 4-10 in their last 14 games overall and 1-4 in their last 5 home games while the under is 4-0-1 in their last 5 games overall. The home team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
Well just when I back the Canadiens to keep their momentum going, they remind me that it’s been a bad idea for the last couple of months. Calgary didn’t have a morning skate and came out and put the boots to Montreal. I think that the Flames continue to show why Montreal’s overrated and get a win at home in this one.
