The Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Blues meet Thursday in NHL action at the Enterprise Center.
The Colorado Avalanche look for a win after winning nine of their last 10 games. The Colorado Avalanche are averaging 3.6 goals per game and are scoring on 23.6 percent of their power play opportunities. Mikko Rantanen leads Colorado with 26 goals, Nathan MacKinnon has 36 assists and Nazem Kadri has 136 shots on goal. Defensively, the Colorado Avalanche are allowing 2.3 goals per game and are killing 82.7 percent of their opponents power plays. Philipp Grubauer has allowed 67 goals on 840 shots faced and Hunter Miska has allowed 18 goals on 111 shots.
The St. Louis Blues need a win after losing nine of their last 12 games. The St. Louis Blues are averaging 2.8 goals per game and are scoring on 20.2 percent of their power play opportunities. Ryan O’Reilly leads St. Louis with 17 goals, David Perron has 29 assists and Torey Krug has 96 shots on goal. Defensively, the St. Louis Blues are allowing 3.1 goals per game and are killing 75.7 percent of their opponents power plays. Jordan Binnington has allowed 83 goals on 905 shots and Ville Husso has allowed 42 goals on 371 shots.
The Avalanche are 35-17 in their last 52 road games and 48-22 in their last 70 overall. The Blues are 7-20 in their last 27 home games and 3-9 in their last 12 overall. The over is 12-5 in Avalanche last 17 overall. The under is 8-3 in Blues last 11 overall. The Avalanche are 8-22 in the last 30 meetings in St. Louis and 4-0 in the last 4 meetings. The favorite is 40-17 in the last 57 meetings. The home team is 36-16 in the last 52 meetings.
The Colorado Avalanche haven't played in several days, so it's going to be interesting to see if they can build on their rhythm and don't play with any potential rust. The St. Louis Blues are a talented club, but they continue to come up short time and time again and it's to the point we need to see some progress before we keep giving them the benefit of the doubt and lose money. Even with the long layoff, I have to give the edge to the Avs, the far and away more consistent team.
