The Boston Bruins and the Buffalo Sabres meet in NHL action from the KeyBank Center on Monday night.
The Boston Bruins will look to build on a 6-3 win over the Washington Capitals in their last matchup. Brad Marchand leads the Bruins in scoring with 54 points including team-highs of 23 goals and 31 assists while Patrice Bergeron’s got 40 points with 18 goals and 22 assists for his 40 points this season. David Pastrnak’s on 38 points with 17 goals and 21 assists and David Krejci has 23 apples while Craig Smith’s on 27 points with 10 goals and 17 assists this season. As a team, Boston is averaging 2.8 goals on 32.3 shots with a 22% success rate on the power play while allowing 2.5 goals on 27.6 shots against with an 85.7% success rate on the penalty kill this season.
The Buffalo Sabres will look to build on a 4-2 upset win over the Pittsburgh Penguins in their last matchup. Sam Reinhart leads the Sabres in scoring with 30 points including a team-high 17 goals and 13 assists while Victor Olofsson has 27 points with 12 goals and 15 assists this season. Rasmus Dahlin’s also got 20 points with a team-high 16 assists while Casey Middelstadt has 8 goals and 7 apples and Rasmus Ristolainen and Kyle Okposo each have double-digit assist tallies as well this season. As a team, Buffalo is averaging 2.4 goals on 27.8 shots with a 21.4% success rate on the power play while allowing 3.4 goals on 32.8 shots against with a 78.3% success rate on the penalty kill this season.
Boston is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall and 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 games as a road favorite. Buffalo is 17-38 in their last 55 games following a win and 13-39 in their last 52 games overall while the under is 4-1-1 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record. The under is 17-6-4 in the last 27 meetings between these two teams.
I get the case that could be made for both sides, as Boston’s the better team and Buffalo is simply playing out the string after being the first team eliminated from playoff contention, but the Sabres showed they can still provide value in spots with their win last time out. Instead, I’m going to side with the under here as I think we have a lower scoring battle here.
